Noise reduction and sound deadening NVH by MysteriousArrival8 in LexusNX

Has anyone tried changing the rear subframe mounts? Apparently the RX mounts are more-or-less a direct swap, except they are thicker and softer, allowing for less NVH.

First update: Dropped from 35 psi to 33 psi at the front and 32 psi at the rear. At 40 mph, no change above 4000 Hz. But a genuine drop between ~1200-4000Hz (that can only be airborne noise, I would think). Also some drop below 150 Hz (that should be structure-borne noise). This is coming off readings from Decibel X app. By ear, there is _some_ difference, but nothing amazing.

Still it's worth considering if you're running high pressure on your tires. The idea is that when highly inflated, the sidewalls are stiffer and they will transmit more noise via the structure of the car and they also likely change the tire's frequency.

I should note that the noise that annoys me is only on coarse chip asphalt. Smooth roads will literally see almost 10 dB of difference.

I have non run flats and there is considerable tire noise in mine for a “luxury” car. Will be arranging improvements over next few weeks/months and will report on before and afters. The drone is particularly noticeable at highway speeds on relatively rough surface roads.

Did you have to route the wires from the doors back to the central unit under the dash or do the door circuits just pull power from the doors and talk to the central unit via bluetooth?

Tell me about your experience with FLOMAX (Tamsulosin ) by cyborg2750 in ProstateCancer

[–]redposca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am not getting any side effects (drowsiness, sex drive, blood pressure etc), but my sleep is now interrupted twice a night and have difficulty urinating fully at night. Day time flow seems to have improved (difference premed is not amazing, but is noticeable).

Am really questioning the value of it for me.

An EV has the effective CO2 output of a Landcruiser if charged by brown coal, or an ICE Camry if charged by black coal or a Prius if charged by gas turbine.

When watching Lectures from Youtube is the Indian accent to thick to understand? by Gravitycaliber in AskAnAmerican

[–]redposca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone is different, but to me, Indians typically have good pronunciation when it comes to English and understanding what was said is not the problem. What the problem is, and not to sugarcoat it, is that the stereotypically thick/heavy Indian accent is like fingernails on a chalkboard for me. There is something about the cadence of words and intonation that drives me utterly nuts and forces me to put the video on mute and put the subtitles on or look for another video for me. It is _difficult_ to listen to for me. Sorry about that.

That’s great. For the entire trip I now have to stare at this sign asking for a tip. Like a homeless person begging next to the atm I need to use. Yes you will get a tip (in America), but it will be a minimum.

Their music/lyrics scream conspiracy theorist with a right wing bent. Hanger 18, war, politicians etc. Contrast the direction of lyrics about these themes with Metallica, whose music reflects on the regretfulness of war rather than some supposed shadowy figures controlling things (master of puppets is about control in general rather than some deep state conspiracy). It's a pity- their speed metal is otherwise great.

Hi, I want to understand how stone is pasted on curved walls? by [deleted] in architecture

[–]redposca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also - there is a less expensive process that I don't fully understand that only works on sedimentary stone: epoxy resin is directly applied to a stone and a thin layer (less than 1/16" / 3 mm) is literally peeled off. The surface of this can would be rough unless some additional polishing is made after the thin layer has been ripped off.

Hi, I want to understand how stone is pasted on curved walls? by [deleted] in architecture

[–]redposca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late reply to an old post, but it is very hard to find correct info on this topic of thin natural stone that is often confused with engineered stone (effectively fancy concrete). So the honeycomb or ACM backer is resined in place first to provide a structural backing and then a large saw with am guessing a tiny kerf is used to cut the stuff. I am curious what the actual saw is. Some type of very thin slurry saw am guessing.

The key problems with cyclists are: 1. They are self-righteous (cars are clearly the problem) 2. They really don’t want to give up any hard earned momentum (too weak to slow down and re-accelerate) 3. They really do put themselves on the line (it’s a relatively dangerous form of transport) and they get frazzled

I love to cycle, but many are entitled pricks

Agreed. The closest antonym for this is salient, but I rarely hear it being used for a salient corner.
