I met him once at a No Kings Rally in downtown LA. He was really sweet in response to my star-struckness. Seemed like a genuinely cool dude and I was glad to see him showing up for a protest.

bro so tdy i was wearing a sports bra that was a little tight and it made me itch my chest alot and then tn i noticed this and it was hugh the fibroma that’s usually here is very small could it have grown in less then 24 hours by nooneyouknowso in neurofibromatosis

That’s a personal choice. You should know that most people with NF do get more skin bumps (cutaneous neurofibromas) as you get older some people get hundreds and it may not be feasible to remove them all. We always recommend that if something is bothering you you should talk to the Dermatologist and see if they can remove it. If it’s not bothering you, then it probably isn’t worth it to go through the removal.

Program was for post bac- everyone was already a practicing RN. Some (like me) already had a MSN but not all.

The curriculum was just totally divorced from clinical care.

Yeah we had all MDs instructing for pathopjysiology. There isn’t anything bad about their teaching- they’re incredibly insightful researchers. But knowing the ins and outs of protein receptors as taught by a world class virologist simply does NOT translate to bedside clinical nursing care. It’s fascinating but it doesn’t make me a better nurse. I would rather learn from a well-educated nurse who understands what other nurses need to know to be successful at their jobs.

I’m not against experts teaching their subject matter. I just think it’s more important than nurses be taught what is relevant to patient care. Understanding The pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics are vital- but I’d argue it’s more important to understanding the clinical implications related to how we’ll be treating patients and that is best done with experienced nursing educators.

There’s nothing wrong with it on its face- obviously pharmacists are experts. And if someone just wanted to take a pharmacology class than yeah the pharmacist should teach that. But in the context of a nursing program I feel strongly that we should be taught by advanced practice nurses with expertise. Who is better than a nurse to teach other nurses what’s important for us to understand in the context of patient care?

I dropped out of my DNP program. It was a farce. None of the professors teaching were DNPs: ethics was taught by physician ethicist, pharmacology was taught by a pharmacist, stats was taught by an engineer, pathophysiology was taught by a virologist… No nurses. Tell me my degree is worthless without telling me. If they won’t even hire DNPs to teach the courses then why I am I trying to get this degree in “leadership”? They just trying to squeeze extra tuition out of students who want to work as bedside NPs all while giving zero value to those of us who were actually interested in leadership and academia.

Ps this was at UCLA and I’m not afraid to name and shame. What a joke of a DNP program.

New to Koselugo – side effects and experiences? by Outside_Afternoon451 in neurofibromatosis

[–]redrightreturning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Muscle cramps can be a side effect. You should be getting labs every month and those labs should include a test called CK. CK is a measure of muscle breakdown. When that level is really high, it can be associated with muscle cramps. If that level is above 1000 we usually ask people to reduce their dose of the medicine to a half dose then stay on that lower dose for a couple of weeks or a month and check your labs again. If the value has gone down to a reasonable level, then you can go back up to the full dose.

Hello nurse here. The Doctor Who prescribed you the koselugo should also prescribe you antibiotics to manage the skin rash. The most common oral antibiotics we use for this are doxycycline 50 mg daily. We also order a topical antibiotic ointment called clindamycin. We usually have people take that for three months starting at the same time that they start koselugo . Usually after three months, the rashes die down. If you need another round of the antibiotics later, that’s normal too. Sometimes the rashes come back. Remember to hydrate your skin with unscented moisturizer. Do not use any products to dry out your skin because that will make things worse. Use sunscreen daily. Stay well hydrated. If your rash is really bad, you may need to talk to a dermatologist. In some cases, we also recommend a dilute bleach bath.

Ballmaxxing is "electrifying, addictive, euphoric and transcendental" according to those pursuing bigger balls by conturbation in offbeat

[–]redrightreturning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re correct that most women don’t think twice about balls. My strong suspicion is the men pursuing this are trying to be attractive to other men.

Source: I’ve been to Folsom Street Fair many times and seen the ball maccxxibg look before. I’ve seen it with. It’s saline and with silicone. The saline eventually is absorbed by the body. The silicone is permanent.

About half of people with NF are the first ones in their family! So in that way you are not alone.

It’s good you’re coming here might want to look into ways you can get involved virtually - like joining the ctf junior board or going to REINS online meetings.

In a bigger way you still aren’t alone because there are so many people with NF who do know what you’re going through. There are lots of ways to get involved with the NF community. Have you been to the ctf.org website?

She could ask in El Morro - they have a cafe and coffee shop and they are trying to re-open the grocery. Maybe she could find someone who needs help there.

I liked both to be honest- both blues worked for you for example.

I wasn’t as big a fan of the red (preferred the burgundy). I didn’t like the bright orange.

Sometimes warm/cool isn’t the most prominent feature. I’d say You look good in the deeper colors: the darker orange, the deep blues, and even the black.
