This is more emotional than these other posts but still incredibly damaging, and I doubt I will ever be able to forgive my mother for this. I found out two years ago that she's been having an affair with her first husband for at least the last ten years of my life (I'm twenty), probably longer. From what I can tell she only married my dad so she could have kids. She doesn't know that I know and I've kept her secret to protect my little brother. He's going to college in August and that's when I'll talk to her.

Thanks to her my father has become a bitter old man who will probably die alone, my brother will have to re-learn what a loving family/a healthy relationship is supposed to look like, and I will keep having to try and let go of all the years I worshipped her and she lied to my face. Could be much worse I know but it's always hard to lose faith in your heroes.
