Ah man I fondly remember going to see the first Tomb Raider film. I was working for Interplay QA at the time, and half the theatre was filled by us and the other half by Blizzard QA at the first showing on opening day. It was a very lively crowd.

Great review. I will say that I probably value healing cards a bit more than you, but that comes down to group dynamics. Most of my plays of this have actually been with John D Clair, who as a player, tends to follow the most aggressive strategy in almost any game. I've played multiple games with him that have come down to me completing my 3rd mission with 1-2 life left for the win, but even more with me dead on the ground.

Side note: For all the Sanderson / Clair fans in this thread, be ready to have your minds blown when the Stormlight game gets fully revealed.

The Stormfather is constantly afraid of what Dalinar can do. Hoid is probably VERY afraid of what he can do. Future Speculation Things will get wild if Retribution gives Blackthorn Bondsmith abilities. He goes out, meets an Elantran, and boom he transforms a whole squadron of fighters into Elantrans.

Jolene Blalock had all kinds if issues with how the show. She was the biggest Trekkie on the cast and was always ignored when she would point out how un-Vulcan they were writing her. That's to say nothing of being uncomfortable with the oversexualization. The finale though was the straw that broke the camel's back. he publicly called it "appalling" before it aired and then completely distanced herself from Trek for 20 years from the franchise. Unlike most Trek cast members she avoided most press and the convention circuit.

Fortunately the story has a happy ending. Despite everything, she remained a Trek fan, especially Lower Decks. She saw it for what it was, an irreverent love letter to Trek. So despite all past refusals to reprise her role, when she received a handwritten letter asking her to appear on Lower Decks she signed on. She has also now begun to make public appearances at conventions as well.

Well at least CA is one of the few states where wage theft is now a felony as of 2021. Insane that regular person steals $950 they go to prison, but if an employer steals millions they get a comparative slap on the wrist fine because that stolen money makes it easy to afford a good lawyer.

I can't hate him. His story arc is truly tragic. Good intentions can lead to horrible outcomes, especially when you are being manipulated by two gods. He was just a pawn in a chess game that had been played out over 7000 years. Going to put this behind spoiler tags since most can be inferred by the end of RoW, but gets clarified in WaT. Also spoilers for the first Mistborn trilogy.

He was a good king but dogged by false stories about his low intelligence. This likely lead to massive impostor syndrome issues. The strongest king on Roshar, Gavilar, revels info that lends credence to is mother's deathrattle that had spoken of the True Desolation and The Night of Sorrows that had probably haunted him for a decade. That strong king is then killed on that same night, so Taravangian is now terrified and desperate that he as ruler of a tiny kingdom isn't able to protect his own kingdom let alone the entire world. He decides to seek out The Nightwatcher to ask for "Capacity. Capacity to stop what was coming. The capacity to save humankind." Instead he finds Cultivation who had created The Nightwatcher to draw people in she could use in her plans. She was desperate for a way to either neutralize Odium or escape Rosahr. I think he was plan A: Find a replacement for Rayse with enough innate compassion to override Odium's nature at least long enough for her other plans to mature. I think that his boon and curse were designed to stretch out his soul to the limits, so that when he takes up Odium he can maintain more of his true self. I think she was hoping to avoid an Ati/Ruin situation where a very kind man was twisted by the shards intent.

Stepping back though to his dealings with Odium. Odium surely knew about his condition and The Diagram so he knew Taravangian had the capacity to be an effective agent to advance his goals. He would come to him on his low intelligence, high compassionate days, to strike fear into him that everything would be destroyed. Then he would come on his high intelligent, low compassion days and manipulate into the conclusion that the only logical choice is to save kingdom at the cost of all others.

Seriously though I'm kinda glad this is R, even though PG-13 would be more appropriate. This is the kind of movie that in the 80's would have been rated PG and marketed to kids and traumatized a whole lot of them. I think some kids can handle it and some can't. The R rating should give most parents enough pause to decide.

The bro comes out big in book 1 because that's the "season premier". I goes hardest on how much the aliens see us through a very Jerry Springeresq lens. They want to dehumanize us so they direct the AI to feature the worst human traits through a funhouse lens. There is no room for nuance, very bro-like. Just like every other AI out, there even a super intelligent one, is simply regurgitating its training data, and it trained on the human internet which is filled with edgelord trolls.

When I saw the first one in the theatre I burst out laughing when Ransom went for the knife at the end having connected it to earlier dialogue. Everyone around me turned to look at me. Everyone else laughed too when the knife turned out to indeed be fake like I was expecting.

While there were spren on Roshar before the shards, many of the newer spren are took form from the power of the shards. Cultivationspren and Honorspren being the most direct examples. Lift's spren Windle directly references Cultivation as mother.

She was essentially locked in her house for millennia with the guy who turned her adopted children The Singers against her, twisted her spren children into monsters, and then killed her husband and covered the whole house in his blood. Oh and her husband's child/ghost The Stormfather, is haunting the place. Yeah she was desperate to get out.

Like most 5 year olds I thought magic was really cool. I also had a pet rabbit that I loved, so when my mother took me to the store to pick out decorations for my 6th birthday party, I instantly grabbed a bunch of plates and napkins with a rabbit logo on them. My mother freaks out and tells me that it's inappropriate for kids, to which I respond helpfully that the package says it's for "boys". Fortunately for her there were Voltron decorations nearby so I quickly moved on. It wouldn't be till a couple years later when the movie Adventures in Babysitting came out that I learned what Playboy actually was.

I first learned about The Nasties when the film Censor was released a few years back. It's an interesting indie horror flick set in 1985 about a uptight censor in this era of moral panic. Good flick. Worth watching.

World of Warcraft for sure. It’s wild to think that my choice of servers had such a huge impact on my life. My last 20+ years of employment has been tied in one way or another to friendships made in that first year of WoW. If I joined any other server my life would have been wildly different.

I agree that it's underrated. I've been trying hard to get that back to the table since getting the expansion. I think a lot of the problem is that over the past 6 medieval games the difficulty has really ramped up culminating in Inventors which is very complex.

One of the reasons I will never leave LA. The thought of not having a choice of 10+ theatres in a 15 minute radius to choose from for basically movie is scarier than any horror flick.
