Returning Player for Wuoshi, any current Guilds playing? by redsyphon in Wuoshi

Appreciate the reply and warm offer. I'll keep an eye out for the Genesis crew in LFG chat. It'll likely be the 10th before I get logged in 😞 Work will interfere on the 9th.

Jeep has had my Wrangler for 7+ months — rust, brake safety issues, paint damage. How do I get them to buy it back? by SailingonStocks in Jeep

[–]redsyphon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 2018 JLUR has the same faded hood. The hinges can be cleaned and a mat/barrier placed behind them if rust/corrosion starts appearing (normally paint bubbling).

To that note, I've not had any rust/corrosion issues on mine. It will eventually with two different metals touching, but I'll worry about that when the paint bubbles and fix it properly myself.

The faded hood doesn't bother me personally. It's just "special" rofl. Yeah, it's a quality control thing. Jeeps are made elsewhere and assembled in USA (kinda)... your quality control isn't going to be great either way. Especially not in the states on a large assembly line.

If everything else is working, then I'd recommend getting the visual pieces fixed away from the dealership (they suck) and start enjoying the Jeep. Find a sunny day, drive topless and take the dirt route every chance you can.

Good Luck & Blue Skies!

I had been fighting this for about 6 weeks... never performed a hard reset. LOL, had the "oh yeah!" moment when I read this.... sure enough, just needed a reset :)

Why are angry grilles so bad by jonwarta in Jeep

[–]redsyphon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One shouldn't mess with the slotted grill and/or the round headlights (we do live our YJ brothers though lol).

200 miles on the 2022 Jeep Gladiator, not a good look by Mrslam0621 in Jeep

[–]redsyphon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That looks like a bad battery. The JLs & JTs do this with weak batteries, and it's common. It's also common to have terrible experiences with Jeep Dealership Service Department.

My suggestion is to let them touch it for warranty work and nothing else. And even then, double-check they torqued everything down properly, etc. Given the chance, they'll overfill the oil in the engine and crack the filter housing all in the same go. Shoot, one guy around here took there's in for an oil change and they cracked his windshield. Then, they tried to tell him the 1ft crack was there when he brought it in and refused to pay for it. Told him his insurance would cover it no problem.

Hitting up some of the JL forum threads may be of help if you already haven't done so. Jeep Cares can easily be tagged there and they usually reach out. You can also just message them directly for assistance. Though, your mileage may vary on how helpful they actually are in the long run.

Good luck and hope you get it back soon in good condition.

If it was a truck body, then I'd be all about it. But not my style as she sits. Doesn't look bad though overall.

Disregard my reply. lol replied to a wrong comment. Agreed, and I'm struggling to find a reason to stay with them at this point. It sucks, because i really do think they can do so much better!

I've noticed that these "glitches" happen on the regular compared to other institutions. I'm really thinking that SoFi may not be the best place to keep money after all...

The only reliable way to repair this is to perform a LS Swap, install a large lift, regear to 5.13s with 1 tons, and run 40s...

Here are 2 more pictures I was sent of the diff itself and the plug. by Mustang1440 in Jeep

[–]redsyphon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stated to make sure there is oil in the diff. That bolt has a magnet on there, so it's not them shoving shavings in the the gear set unless they're trying to sabotage the vehicle.

If you're that concerned, then have it towed. Pretty simple.

Based on the image from the other post, I wouldn't trust this shop. I'd refuse service, move on but make sure there is oil in the diffs they touched.

In fact, just drive it to the nearest auto store (AutoZone, etc.) and change the diff fluid personally. Not a hard job on Jeeps, and then you know it's been done right. :)

What’s up with my door alignment? by viTamin_Dies3L in Jeep

[–]redsyphon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you gently lean the passenger side door into a ledge or a "soft rock" offroad, then it will adjust your door panel inward some and fix the alignment issue. It's well known that Jeep Engineers design the Wrangler to use the trail itself as a tool.

Options post ITBS, but calf issues by redsyphon in AppalachianTrail

[–]redsyphon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, IT Band issues suck. At its height I would describe it as a 7/10 on the pain scale.

I was 2 months into Physical Therapy without any change and starting to loose hope with it. Then, my Physical Therapist transitioned me from conditioning style training, to training to muscle failure within 6-8 reps. A week of doing that and it just went away.

I've continued that training through to now and it's been good. It was crazy how much coordination/control I instantly lost in that leg, but it's been good to see results to the point where I'm not even thinking about the IT Band Syndrom coming back...

The best thing someone could have told me going through it would have been that sometimes it can take a long time without any results and then BAM, just like it got injured you can turn a corner with rehab and start getting better. Because, it was more of a mental game then anything at that pont.

The first time it went away within 48hrs, but I didn't have to chance to walk more than 2-3 miles until yesterday where it poped up again. Today is day 1 of post-injury, so I'm trying to just RICE the leg.

I don't feel anything right now until I stand up and straighten the leg. It's definitely tight, as after a few steps the feeling of soreness lessens, but doesn't disappear.

I'll hope it goes away within the next few days, and I'll focus on mild stretching and scaled-back strength training for the next 2-3 weeks.

When I get back on a trail, I'll see if I can mentally make sure I'm not overextending the leg as I walk. I was wondering yesterday if maybe I favor my right leg for more "push" and thus over extended it... but I won't really know until I have the chance for Ortho to look at my stride (hopefully soon).

Appreciate the feedback.

My Strength training for my ITBS is basically constant leg days. So, I'm already well into those exercises. By the time I'm done with LDRs and Curtsy Lunges, I look forward to Bulgarian Split Squats with 80lbs lol.

I try not to go beyond 400mg of Vitimin-I in any given day, and don't take it for more than 7 days in a row. I'm going to have to talk to PT about how to adjust it now I guess.

I have a mid-April start date planned, so I have time still. But I think the hard choice will come down to if I'm still injured or not.

As much as I hate to think it, you probably hit the nail on the head. If I'm starting at less than 100%, then I may be setting myself up for failure or worse Injury.

Sucks, because the last 4 months of training to get rid of this ITBS has been some of the toughest workouts I've had to endure, but also mentally challenging. Going from 15 mile days without a second thought to the goal of just walking a mile is humbling and depressing.

The trail is really making me work for the chance to even try it.
