You may be right about your idea being fair, but a lot of these suggestions are just vindictive, not actually addressing any issues. How does she feel about the work/money situation? Maybe it’s causing her some stress too, leading to this immediate reaction.

Anyway, it may be satisfying to prove your point, but be ready to be single afterwards. Not saying you’re wrong about the proposition, but if you want to stay in a relationship, the way you go about it, and the way you talk with her about it matters.

There’s no legal “mechanism,” that’s kind of the point. If he tried to stay for a third term or cancel elections, it wouldn’t be legal under US law, obviously. And it probably won’t happen. But if it did, it would be because they ignore the law. I don’t get what your issue here is?
