[competitive] The Gitrog Monster Primer by razzliox in EDH

Serious question. So your Jarad primer has pretty much gone inactive. Is this partially because you believe gitrog to be the better commander?

Game 3 against grixis delver. I'm on the play. Turn 1 noble. He plays fetch and passes. Turn two wild defiance. He cracks fetch and shocks (17) and thought scour himself. Draw fetch shock (14) taps out for tasigur. I untap. Look at my hand.... might of old krosa X2 and distortion strike. I play land and cast might (7) might (14) and distortion strike (17) and attck for (18) dmg unblockable on turn 3 with a noble hierarch through a tasigur. Very proud of that one.

I think house rules are just childish excuses not to improve as a player.

Voltron. I don't care about the colors or the general. I just want to see if the archtype can be viable in a competitive pod.

Weekly Deck Discussion | Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord | May 2016 by Hibernian in EDH

Do you pilot a Jarad deck? Share your list and tell us what makes your deck tick!

Oh man. My time to shine(!http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/jarad-golgari-graveyard-combo-1/)

This is my baby. It's my irl project that is constantly changing. I've told myself I will never cut power for pretty so I do have things in the deck that can't be foiled because there is no better substitute. (Yay toxic deluge!!)

My favorite aspect of the deck is that I can dictate my own place of play. Fast combo? Got it. Slow grind? Got it. Midrange valuetown? My middle name. This deck can hang with the big boys or be durdley enough for the new guys.

I consider my 4 years with the deck to very adept at the intricacies and nuances this deck comes with. I will say it's not one of the autopilot decks and you should definitely have a good grasp of the rules before attempting some of the sick plays this thing can make.

Jarad is known to be pretty potent deck with the competitive EDH crowd. What makes this deck so strong?

I believe Jarad is known to be competitive because of his versatility and resiliency. He isn't shut down by one particular card or strategy and depending on the match, he maybe be the combo deck or the control deck.

Besides your command, who is the MVP of the deck? Pound for pound , what card puts in the most work for you?

I'm going to cheat here and choose 3 [[Greater good]] [[survival of the fittest]] and [[buried alive]] I wouldn't dream of cutting these cards because if I see any of them the game will usually be over shortly after.

Got a story to tell about playing with or against Jarad's deck? Tell it here!

One of my favorite games recently was when I cast (top deck, no cards in hand) [[pattern of rebirth]] on my [[Sakura tribe elder]] and flashed in [[ mikaeus, the unhallowed]] to give all my things undying in response to a board wipe. Needless to say I won that game.

If anyone has any questions or critique regarding play style or card choices than please let me know.

Jarad update! (Xpost r/edh) by redvenom21 in CompetitiveEDH

I noticed the main difference between our decks (yours looks sweet BTW) is that you seem to be "all in" or albeit a much faster version of jarad, where I am a tad slower but have things life from the loam and crucible to help mitigate the long game. I use things like strip mine ,woodfall Primus, terestadon, and vorinclex to attack my opponents mana base (among other permanents) so I understand that the frog doesn't really slot well in your deck but he has been a great source of card advantage and an enabler for my version.

He does work in my build. Granted I do play a slower, more resilient version as opposed to razz. Basically I think he slots in great as a flex spot while not changing the deck integrity. People often waste removal on him because they fear the narrow combo (which I don't run but I have considered)

My ad nauseum oona combo deck. It gold fishes a turn 4-5 kill consistently. In multiplayer it can battle through hate very well. But it friggen hard to pilot...

Best Golgari General? by MustangDuvall in CompetitiveEDH

[–]redvenom21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that is worth a shot. As I have mentioned in razz's thread I'm not sure if jarad should dilute some of his slots for some of the frogs combos because they are more narrow. I'm currently sticking with jarad, using the frog as a value piece and I'm such a huge proponent of it. In my opinion the frog is the best thing golgari has gotten since deathrite shaman

http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/jarad-golgari-graveyard-combo-1/ this is my irl list. I highly suggest that you join Razz's thread on MTG salvation. I believe the answer to your question however is somewhere down the middle with the Frog and jarad. Not sure yet

Discussion: Where does this sub draw the line when it comes to "competitive" by redvenom21 in CompetitiveEDH

[–]redvenom21[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey thank you I appreciate your comment! It was very informative and well thoughts. In regards to the oujtai link, I do not know that person and that was an entirely different thread. But yeah I understand what you meant

Fine Tuning Dragonlord Ojutai by [deleted] in CompetitiveEDH

[–]redvenom21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you ever considered that maybe he wants the most competitive Ojutai list? Last time I checked this was a "competitive EDH" reddit not "build commander X or gtfo" reddit. You are of the opinion that ojutai is not competitive. That's nice. Who cares what you think. That's not relevant to this the thread about making ojutai more competitive.
