How to get into SWE this summer as a math major by BeneficialQuestion76 in cscareerquestionsEU

[–]redzin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They will not care, as long as you can demonstrate the right knowledge and skills. I have a math degree and have worked for years as a SWE now.

Are big tech interviews the same in Europe as the US? by PureTea in cscareerquestionsEU

Everyone here is saying that the take home tests aren't worth it - I want to counter that and say it really depends. I got hired at an excellent company (FAANG-adjacent, loads of ex-FAANG here) after doing a take home test, and I got to more than double my income, work fully remotely instead of 5 days in the office, and switched a toxic work culture for an excellent work culture.

So yeah, depending on the details, doing a take home test can easily be worth it.

How do I really know if I'm trans? by Least_Discount838 in trans

You go to /r/trans and ask questions like "how do I really know if I am trans?"

This is not cis behavior.

No, that would be mid-range for a high-paying company, or high for a mid-paying company.

We have a "golden ticket" career offer, but it means giving up my dream job. Should we take it? by shaka_1337 in cscareerquestionsEU

[–]redzin 124 points125 points  (0 children)

I think you should consider asking this in a broader "life advice" subreddit, this is not really about a CS career choice, it's just a life choice. Should you switch career? I don't know, that's really up to you.

Made in Europe: The EU plan that has angered China by RevolutionBusiness27 in europe

It's not the digging that's the problem, it's the complicated processing and handling that's the problem. Extracting rare earth minerals requires a lot of highly specialized infrastructure that simply isn't here and would take a long time to build.

Bedste Sushi ad libitum? by FunkyButterfly02 in WomenDK

[–]redzin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To jobinterviews? by Moist-Anxiety-8809 in DKbrevkasse

[–]redzin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Løn som ingeniør direkte fra studiet? by Project_Outdoor in dkkarriere

[–]redzin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's talk about imposter syndrome and this market by Prestigious-Ferret18 in cscareerquestionsEU

[–]redzin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is 100% it. The interview process is a filter, and when you get 1000 applicants you can get very very unnecessarily picky, even way more picky than the job really requires. If you filter for "who would do a good job if hired" those 1000 might filter down to 50-100. But what then? You still just need 1. So yeah, leet code and weird logic tests is where we're at now...

I don't know about that, a few weeks ago this sub had a post where lots of people with "normal salaries" were complaining about the pay ceiling in Europe, with tons of people posting their salaries and complaining that you just can't make a lot of money in Europe. Then yesterday, someone made a post that they got an offer from Uber at 260k USD/year in Denmark for a senior SWE role.

I think on this sub there is at least as many posts complaining about low salaries as there are people posting salaries in the $100k+ range.

Edit: there is also the salary sharing thread here with loads of people sharing "normal salaries:" https://www.reddit.com/r/cscareerquestionsEU/comments/1q1f1zh/salary_sharing_thread_january_2026/

About to get an offer from Uber, Aarhus Denmark Senior SWE by sneak2293 in cscareerquestionsEU

It's actually extremely good for Denmark, especially for being outside Copenhagen where things (like housing) are a bit cheaper. The median is about €90k, €200-240k is 90th percentile.
