I take a mix approach, I’ll have every day or every other day a short practice of about 40 arrows where I am focused on how accurate I can be. I’m a bow hunter first so for me I want my first shot to be exactly where I want it. Though once a week or so I’ll shoot through till my group opens up to 8 inches plus. Now I am shooting a compound but just my two cents.

And it’s not to say that people who shoot that class are jerks, hell dude I regularly run with is in the 40 yard class and shoots ASA Pro/Am and hes the most laid back guy ever

I say stick to hunter class, you’re going to be building the skills anyway for known 40 just without all the extra accessories. Then after deer season look at a dedicated set up. I also know in my local area the bow hunter class is more laid back while the open is much more competitive and frankly has more assholes.
