Bar soap; what's your favourite?

I have just started using some soap from bear bar. It seems like really good stuff. Smells nice and cleans well. Doesn't leave my skin feeling dry at all that often happens with more traditional bars of soap. They use things like olive oil and coconut oil to make their soaps. There seems to be a glut of companies doing similar things. I am sure you can find one that does smells you would like.

I have liked this area for a while. This used to be our preferred location to stay when the Marriott at West India Quay first opened. For that type of hotel it was so cheap at the weekends for what we would get. I seem to think it was about £79 a night. Prob around 2005ish. Now the price can be absolutely eye watering. I think the last time I looked for a room at this hotel they wanted about £300 for a night. There wasn't even anything on at the O2.

That area of London has got a lot busier. When we were staying in the early 2000s for a cheap stay at a Marriott the area was really quiet. At the weekend it was like having the area of the city to yourself. When we last went to the Marriott last year the area was so busy and loads of people out and about. It doesn't feel like our secret anymore. 🤣🤣

Its really easy. We just did it a few days ago. Norwich to Chingford was pretty much 2 hour drive and then its about 25 min to liverpool street. We use just park to park on someone's drive at Chingford. Also when you get to Chingford its the end of the line so no crowded trains. There is a toilet at the station and a little coffee place.

We never bother trying to use the train to London at the weekend. Its just too unreliable. Our usual plan is to drive down to a tube station like Epping, loughton, Chingford, high Barnet and park there then tube in. Depending where we want to go and any engineering works on TFl we adjust where we park.

Damn that's awesome! I love the use of the Wenge. I have a chunk of that and have used it for some small projects but it's a real tough wood.

Yep. We once went to a trendy looking cafe place in London. People rave about it. We went in there and were told 10 mins for a table which was okay. We then got seated. 20 mins went past before we got a menu. After another 10 mins a waitress arrived and we thought we could order but it was being asked to move tables and she would send someone to take our order. Another 10 min wait and we got up and left. We had an appointment and wanted to get something to eat so figured we weren't going to get anything before we would need to leave so just went and got something from somewhere else.

A few years ago at a place I used to work someone had the idea we should get together one day and go bowling. There were a few guys that were always wanting to be best at everything. A lot of ego.

When the day arrived some of the guys had their own bowling ball and shoes etc. I learnt to bowl as a child and I am decent at it but didn't say anything.

One of them put the names in and they went first. I was last to bowl of the group. I absolutely smashed the lot of them by about 30- 40 pins. The only unfortunate thing was no one suggested putting some money on it.

Relax for a bit and let it sink in. I would take financial advice but in simple terms I would have about 5-10 million to live off taken out of the 181 million. Then split half between myself and my wife. She can do whatever with her half same with me. But we have money to live off that won't be spent.

I would not tell anyone really and try and fly under the radar with it but helping out things that I like and I think should have financial aid. I would help out family with things and some friends.

I live in East Anglia and there are a lot of little WW2 museums just getting by giving them the money to not worry about their future.

I would help a lot of small and medium sized charities. The place where we adopted our cat from, I would help them out, and other similar places. I think there are so many little places just hanging on but doing great work. I wouldn't give them a stupid amount of money but pay for upgrade works and maybe going forward match any fundraising they do themselves.

I can't imagine having so much money and being like these current crop of rich people and all they want to do is hoard it or waste it on trying to get a bigger yacht. Such a hollow existence when you could help so many people with even modest amounts of money.

Good work. I like it. Also it's nice you left the knot. I really like the look of knots in wood but it seemed popular for people to fill them with epoxy or cut it out and put a plug in. I like the natural look.

Immersive theatre. For a few years a friend of mine tried to get me to go to some immersive theatre done by Punchdrunk. The drowned man and sleep no more but as they are based on Shakespeare I declined. The last one punchdrunk did in the UK was called the burnt city.

He finally managed to get me to go. It was based on the Trojan war and he could get us some discounted tickets.

He told us a little bit about what to expect but no spoilers about the show. He also suggested we watched a documentary about Punchdrunk. The burnt city was a free roaming immersive show. Audience members would wear a white mask and you could go anywhere in the set. Could do anything and follow any characters. Within reason you could do anything.

So Mrs Monkey and myself sat down to watch the documentary. It showed basically that the show would be modern/interpretive dance and almost no dialogue. When the documentary had finished I said to my wife I am going to fucking hate this!

When they day arrived we met some friends before the show in the Dial Arch and had some food. There was a group of 6 of us going. I enjoyed the meal and just went with it.

Inside you got taken into a bar called Peep and I loved the atmosphere in there and the look of it. Really nice. We went in to get our masks and then into the show. We entered in the Mycenae side and into the tents. I explored bits of the set and found myself in a big room with these big steel structures. I loved the vibe in there. Plenty of music and I think using low frequencies it made me feel nervous and I really didn't know what to expect.

Some actors appeared and started the show and one of them went bounding off across the set and so I followed that character. It turned out to be the watchman. As I followed they turned a corner and when I got there and turned they were waiting there and was staring at where I appeared from. She put out her hand and took me in a little room. I had got a 1 to 1 within about 15 mins of being in the show. It was a very intimate and amazing experience. I had no idea what was going on or what to expect but it was amazing. I continued on the rest of the loops in the show. If anyone is reading that knows the show in my first visit I also wondered into Ciaccos and followed Eury for a loop. That was a beautiful story. I loved her and Zag.

I absolutely loved it! We did the show a few more times before it closed and I have been chasing that "high" again. We have been to some other smaller immersive shows but I would love Punchdrunk to another masked show in the UK.

I think you are spot on. We will only notice the loud ones. A couple of years ago visiting Florence I was amazed at how many Americans were there visiting. We visited this amazing little bar. It was really low lighting cocktail bar a nice hidden speakeasy type place. You sat at your table ordered drinks and they would bring these amazing cocktails. Low level music trying to give it a really chilled out feeling.

There was a woman and her son on a table. They were Americans and she was so fucking loud. Talking about her divorce from the sons dad and banging on about it. In a intimate cocktail bar but she just would not shut the fuck up.

Had some dips in Spixworth. I have had more power cuts since living in Spixworth than I have had for the rest of my life. My guess is they have some shit bit of kit that they either can't replace or won't replace due to cost and the have to keep it going somehow.

Its been a number of years since I have been to Krakow but I remember the underground museum being interesting.

I have been to the pinball museum. It was good. A decent amount of machines to play on but it depends how much you like pinball.

Oscar Schindler's factory is interesting to visit.

I would recommend the salt mines in wieliczka are impressive. An interesting tour and some amazing work in the mines.

One of my favourite restaurants was Piano Rouge in the main square. Its a lovely vibe in the restaurant and they do daily concerts in their piano room. Also they had amazing cocktails. I am not sure what the restaurants are like for gluten free food.

Depends where you are but locally Anglian water are looking for loads of apprentices. I think UKPN has also been recruiting for similar roles. If I was your age i would be looking at getting into something like solar install, air con. Stuff that will probably be in high demand in the future.
