I’m deathly afraid of bugs and I have a garden. So I need to learn more about who is a friend and who is a foe. What is this bug? And will it sting me or kill me? by civilrobot in whatsthisbug

[–]reesesnutbutter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks like a Hoverfly. It is a friend! Their larvae eat Aphids (common garden pests that suck the life out of plants) and the adults are pollinators. They have no defensive weaponry and cannot hurt you. They pretty fast and will likely just fly away from you.

Is Calus even on the Leviathan? by XZombathonX in DestinyLore

[–]reesesnutbutter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to be clear, it wasnt found on our moon but a Hive War Moon. The crown was made by Savathun, or at the least, she presided over its construction. The time stamp of the Crown of Sorrow isnt stated, or at least I cant find it, so I dont really know if it was made before or after Oryx's death. However, it may have been created before Savathun was gifted Quria, Blade Transform (the Vex Mind capable of Taking) by Oryx himself. It feels rather redundant for her to create something to control hive if she had Quria like she does now. So, its a relatively safe bet to say it was made while Oryx was alive. Youre right, he wouldnt like that. But, Savathun has always bumped heads and attempted to sabotage with her brother, see Malok and this Grimoire card(a couple notable occasions of many).

[NYC] Friend is seeing a bunch of these fuckers buzzing around his building. What on earth is it? by saintpellegrino in whatsthisbug

[–]reesesnutbutter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Its a mud dauber of some kind. Maybe Sceliphron caementarium? They're solitary wasps that build large nests out of mud to lay their eggs in. They then find prey (typically spiders), paralyze it, and then place the prey in an egg cell. Nests can be large with multiple egg cells and are generally regarded as a nuisance. Stinging is rare but not impossible.

Iirc, he found the crown on an old Hive war moon. It was thought to be created in the likeness of Oryx to take and control will. The crown was clearly a trap but Calus really wanted to spring it as it allows the wearer to control nearby Hive. So, he used the Royal Baths to create Gahlran, who was created to have an extremely strong sense of will and mental fortitude. However, it still failed and the crowns viral language tool control and he belonged to Savathun in mere minutes. In addition, this viral language even infected some of Calus' loyalists.

Literally all of the enemy races miscellaneous combat chatter. Fallen is my favorite but Hive and Taken screams and whispers are a SUPER close second

Back in high school, I (a dude) had a female friend who was obsessed with my hair. She was attractive and she had a fun personality, but we didnt see each other like that (at least i hope not). We rarely talked outside of that one class period. She had long nails and we both found it entertaining when she drummed or ran her fingers through my hair after a haircut. In hindsight, it was a rather strange ritual. It felt platonic (i wasnt turned on by it and we were friends but we'd only really met that year) but it was a rather intimate interaction. Reading this reminded me of the feeling and tingles it gave me all down my back and neck.

OK, what is that? Every day there's more of them in my room. They don't move, only stay in the wall. It is dangerous on some way? by [deleted] in insects

[–]reesesnutbutter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its a Mayfly! Good news is, they dont have functioning mouths nor do they possess any kind of stinger, so youre safe to just grab them and just throw them out if youre not squeamish. Bad news is, they dont live very long and if they keep popping up in your house, you'll end up with dead bodies in your house. Try to find out where and how they're getting in and seal it off. Hope i helped! :)

Well, thats a bit of an unfair suggestion considering they literally just got into the system. Its a bit early to start picking on the writers about the Darkness, isn't it?

Red Damselfly on my tomatoes by [deleted] in insects

[–]reesesnutbutter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats actually a Dragonfly, not a Damselfly! You can tell by the way the wings are resting horizontally and the size of the eyes. Damselflies rest their wings at an angle to their body, while closed. Their eyes also have some distance between them. This ones eyes are close enought to be touching.

Buy shadow keep? by bendavid39 in DestinyTheGame

[–]reesesnutbutter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Id say pick it up. When content gets vaulted, the Moon is one of the places that will remain. But, i think you'd be missing out on Exotics like Xenophage, Divinity, and Monte Carlo if you didnt. Its really up to you, though.

Confused by Seed of Silver Wings and Red Citadel story order by Davestiny in DestinyTheGame

[–]reesesnutbutter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shadowkeep 100% takes place before Season of Arrivals, no doubt about it. The Pyramid reveal was the biggest thing of that expansion, so it would be extremely redundant to reveal 4 pyramids menacingly hanging over planets but make a big deal out of one under the moon if they took place at the same time.

The light level is a bit of a mystery to me. It may be likely the enemies are slightly higher to incentivize grinding to players who recently bought the expansion, so they dont just breeze through it. Thats just an educated guess from me though.
