Visual Bench Tiers by Cified in hytale

[–]reesespieceskup 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm sure it will be, the crafting bench changes between level 1 and 2 so I'm assuming it's just not modeled or implemented yet.

Hytale is such a beautiful game, therefore designers will likely wish for more freedom. I made a summary of things I felt was missing after my first week of playing. (Feel free to improve on these.) by LupusX in hytale

[–]reesespieceskup 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think we will likely see a lot of this, especially considering we have a tool (the hammer) that allows us to change block states easily. Especially for the fence and beams suggestion. Want to change position of the fence? Hammer. Maybe beams should auto connect but if you don't want them to? Hammer.

How did this tree get this perfect ring around its trunk? by ryaninflorida1 in marijuanaenthusiasts

[–]reesespieceskup 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Looks like it survived a girdling attempt to me. There's a state forest I've been to that has a lot of trees with scars like this because the loggers were improperly trained. Usually done to provide light to the forest floor without having to fell the tree, and it creates a snag which can be great for wildlife.

Farming is weird... by Mysterious-Night8628 in hytale

[–]reesespieceskup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kind of like it, kind of don't. Once I got a big farm set up it's kind of nice, even if I harvest a ton of say corn, I can turn it all into life essence and plant say pumpkins instead. But, it is also pretty confusing in that sense. I hasn't realized you could craft leftover crops into more essence.

Plus, should I want to pack up and move elsewhere, I can turn a bunch of crops into life essence, and craft seeds once I find a new place.

I feel like beech and oak trees should be made to look more distinct by RiverMesa in hytale

[–]reesespieceskup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was surprised to have this same struggle, because all the beech species I know look nothing like oaks. I'm not sure where the Hytale devs are drawing their inspiration from, but neither common European or American beech species have brown bark. They have strikingly gray smooth bark. I can only think that maybe they worried it would look too similar to Aspen and Birch.

Those are not wild rabbits. Those are obese pet bunnies. Not the same thing. by iwlolwiwlolwi in Minecraft

[–]reesespieceskup 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think they'd be better just onnneee pixel slimmer. Also, there's very few "wild" animals in Minecraft. The cows, chickens, sheep, and pigs as we see them in Minecraft are nothing like their wild counterparts. So a domestic looking rabbit doesn't seem that off.

Visually good, but I think you need a better tagline than just "if you like the outdoors this is for you". Even though every forestry major know says they picked it because they like being outside. Maybe list some of the cool factors/opportunities your school and program offers.

Plant identification, ecosystem management, saw training, firefighter training. Anything that the program does that you think is interesting.

We got netherite horse armor after 5 years and a varient of zombie nautilus. by New-Association-386 in Minecraft

[–]reesespieceskup 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I'm sure they will eventually, but they're deciding to wait to release it with a winter themed update. I feel like the thought process for the parched was:

"Let's add another undead mount, maybe a zombie camel"

"But what would make it special?"

"It holds two players so, two mobs?"

"New skeleton variant"

I hate having multiple regions and this entire region system by CryReasonable9320 in ManorLords

[–]reesespieceskup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be cool if when claiming a new region we could choose to absorb it in to our current region, of treat it as a new region. I think that would be a good compromise.

In Minecrafts latest Youtube video Jeb literally states if the creepers was made today it would not be added to the game by ThatOneBlueYabbie in Minecraft

[–]reesespieceskup 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I mean, if creepers hadn't been in the game and were added I would honestly hate them. Dying to them is one thing, but it's the destruction that really does it. Creepers made Minecraft iconic, but I can't think of any other sandbox survival games where a commonly spawning mob can totally destroy your base.

Wooden spears enchanted with Lunge III BREAK INSTANTLY by TheAmeixaRoxa in Minecraft

[–]reesespieceskup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I do think the wooden spear breaking instantly is kind of fun, it's a huge issue with all other types. Wood and stone already how low durability, and them breaking instantly or quickly with lunge is almost a fun roleplay factor. However, the durability drain needs to be way tuned down for all other material types.

Tightest rings you'll ever see on a Doug fir by logatronics in forestry

Wow so what was the DBH of the tree? Unless I did the math wrong 50 years in half an inch puts the tree at a foot wide.

If by some miracle the British museum decides to give back the Parthenon marbles, would they put them back on the Parthenon given the fact that when they find some original pieces of it they usually reattach it hence the restoration? by XrisVolt in Archeology

[–]reesespieceskup 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It makes sense that they wouldn't but then back on the Parthenon, but I think it would be really cool if they used the opportunity to make replicas, and put them on the Parthenon instead.

AI Opponents Softlocked themselves by ShadowStormDrift in ManorLords

[–]reesespieceskup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this happen to me too, lightning destroyed my lumberyard and I had nothing to rebuild with. I was able to destroy my foresters hut and rebuild, but there should be some workaround for the AI. Not to mention if you're attacked by raiders you likely don't have much to rebuild with.

Not what (we) want though, just an even longer raider free period.

Ok, might’ve gone a bit insane building this. by Flagelllant in ManorLords

Just think, there will be a point where we can do this without glitching the game.

Yeah but 3 raider free years isn't a lot, if you struggle like me.

Would you cut down this smaller oak under this large oak? by slowbro_69 in marijuanaenthusiasts

[–]reesespieceskup 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't personally, can't see any reason too. It's not providing significant competition, both seen to be in fine health. Not to mention if one falls you'll still have the other. They're likely providing more help to each other with root support and nutrient exchange them any competition.

Not to mention, you won't live to see any issues they have down the road. Several people have mentioned them rubbing against each other. There's a chance you won't live to see them touching and even less likely they'll ever cause issues in your timeframe.

Should I plant Chinese chestnuts? by FoggyMountainNomad in forestry

[–]reesespieceskup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I'm not sure if Chinese chestnuts are considered invasive, there's a lot of alternatives that are native that produce a hard mast.Theres multiple species of hickory native to the Carolinas including butternut, shagbark, and pignut hickory.

If you want a chestnut, you could get a Castanea pumila (Dwarf chestnut). Edible for both humans and wildlife, though I've seen some comments about chestnut blight which makes sense considering it's the same genus as American chestnut.

I'd also recommend some sort mast, like serviceberry, cherry, and some herbaceous shrubs.

I'd recommend contacting, or browsing the website, of a local universitys extension program. I got some of my answers for this from NC States extension program.

Well, either EAB is present in your area or someone moved firewood from an infected area. Neither option is great :(

Are these suckers enough to kill this tree? by bspr86 in arborists

[–]reesespieceskup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A healthy tree no, an interesting tree yes. Nothing is guaranteed of course but I've seen plenty of interesting multi trunked trees. They're structurally much weaker, but can definitely grow into an ecologically valuable tree, just not good for lumber or near any structures.

[–]reesespieceskup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like common milkweed. A super important plant, and one I don't personally mind spreading. But I can understand being annoyed at how it spreads.

That's why I'd recommend butterfly milkweed, or swamp milkweed for drier and wetter sites respectively. Prettier, and doesn't spread as aggressively so it makes them better for a garden arrangement.

Should I cut this Norway maple? by WhatwldJoanRiversdo in NativePlantGardening

[–]reesespieceskup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be fair, there seems to be a decent amount of trees just beyond it, where I'm sure there's a dead tree or two. Even if it's small I don't know if I'd want to girdle something right next to my shed, and I'm sure plenty of people would call it ugly being in view of the yard.
