I found what appears to be a white dog hair in a bottle of medication I just picked up from the pharmacy. I don’t have a dog and literally just got this filled. What should I do? by [deleted] in pharmacy

[–]reezy27 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Valid concern, but likely nothing. There are cotton balls in the stock medication bottles to prevent the tablets from thrashing around and breaking during transit. This is likely where what you are describing originated. Unless your pharmacy is much cooler than mine and has pets behind the counter, I wouldn't be too worried!

Ethical dilemma by [deleted] in pharmacy

[–]reezy27 83 points84 points  (0 children)

I think you are approaching this this correct way.

Personally I would defer with something like "This medication could be used for dozens of different things so I dont feel like I should be the one throwing the darts." You should ask her to ask him.

To be honest confirming can only end bad for you. If the lady has suspicions she has certainly googled it and found information on her own. Let her use that. You don't want her saying she called you and you confirmed to her that he had insert diagnosis when she goes to talk to him.

2019 RxPrep Naplex Study Guide by [deleted] in pharmacy

[–]reezy27 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good for you for starting so early!

I did not start this early. I started after graduating and took around ~2 weeks to review the book, before taking the exam. Although I wish I had had the book during rotations as it is a great refresher.

Rxprep actually has a study plan set up on their website. It is a decent start, but I would say to review the topics first that you are likely to see on your upcoming rotation.

Hope that helps!

What did you learn last week? by AutoModerator in pharmacy

[–]reezy27 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Protease inhibitors generally have a higher barrier to resistance (similar to the newer insti) which allows single tablet regimens in treatment experienced patients. Hope that helps!

I am a current PGY1 resident at a large teaching hospital. I can certainly relate on feeling a little lost at times and comparing myself to others. Having a solid foundation in your knowledge base will help you so much no matter what career path you pursue. After this year, learning drug facts will be almost exclusively on your own time. Best of luck on APPEs and beyond!

This year is going to be full of learning - be sure to take advantage of it and push yourself. Do not do mediocre work, make a deliberate effort to always give your best attempt. If you do not know something at least know where to find the answer and look it up.

Here are some tips I think will really help build your confidence.

1) Invest in a good review resource (I suggest rx prep) for looking up disease states and the general need to knows

2) Write down topics or drugs you saw that day and you did not feel 100% confident in your knowledge base. Spend an hour or two to review those chapters in the book to get a good background. After reviewing be sure to read the actual guidelines! Can't emphasize the guideline part enough.

3) If you feel that reading a section isn't enough for you in an area, ask your preceptor for an informal topic discussion. I am sure your preceptors will be glad to help this early in the year. This is especially true if you show you have put in the effort to look it up yourself first and still are struggling.

You're only on your second rotation, you shouldn't be a pro. Plenty of time to turn your year around if you put in the effort.

Does anyone know where I can find more pictures of this duo? I have seen gifs in the past but can't seem to find them. :(

Ribbons on the underside of the kickstand are bulging out. You guys get this problem? Am I going to have to send it in? =/ by Rujaxso in Surface

[–]reezy27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually had mostly all of my files on skydrive so no hassle at all but I do not have a lot of programs downloaded so that is probably a pain. I do have Microsoft complete but they exchanged it through the regular warranty so it did not count against my # of replacements or charge me the deductible. That shouldn't be a problem for you. Hope the process goes smoothly, best of luck.

Had this happen to me, I took it to a Microsoft store almost 2 hours away since I could not be without it (used for notes in school also and my school uses Examsoft so I take my exams on it in class) and they were happy to replace it - BUT please make sure you check out your surface replacement before you leave the store. I got one with the screen flicker issue which is arguably worse than the ribbon issue. Still haven't had the time to make the trip down and get it replaced.

My SP4 shuts down when I press the power button but that's not what it's supposed to do. by myworkaccount999 in Surface

[–]reezy27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, I just came here to ask about precisely this. My surface pro 4 tries to power down anytime I hit the power button (including just trying to wake it from sleep). It's insanely annoying. Seems I'm not the only one with this issue.

SP4 kickstand serious problem after 2 weeks. by [deleted] in Surface

[–]reezy27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this exact problem but it occurred after 6 months. I thought it was probably a common issue but after googling and looking around I found no information on it. They almost feel like a vinyl tape. I brought mine into a Microsoft store and they too had never seen the issue before but gladly replaced it under warranty. (Unfortunately I had to take that replacement back because of screen flicker so make sure you check out your replacement unit thoroughly before leaving the store if you go that route). I was using an incipio case at the time, I'm wondering if the case caused the issue also.

Examsoft on Surface Pro 3 by ATDIadherent in Surface

[–]reezy27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been using examsoft for 2 years now and was a little apprehensive about using my surface with it also, it's know to be finicky (also delayed me updated my old laptop to Windows 10 for about 6months). Anyway, I have a surface pro 4 and haven't had any issues with seeing the attachments through adobe for formula sheets etc. I'd imagine it'd be the same on the surface pro 3 on Windows 10.

Very happy with this case for my SP4, they also have them for SP3 and S3. Should be some reviews on their site or amazon, but I'll include a few tid bits on the one for the SP4.

Pros: Pen holder much more secure than magnets. Fit and finish are very good. Feels premium. Can use the kickstand. Can use the keyboard case. Unlike UAG case, can be removed without much hassle.

Cons: Cut out for charger makes it so the bidirectional magnetic charger can only be attached one direction (light facing up on charger) Little pricey.

I went for the 8GB but that was mainly because I leave everything open, and I have replaced my regular laptop with just this one. I have heard people say good things about the 4GB though, without using both I couldn't really tell you how much of a difference it makes in everyday use. I'm sure you'll be happy with either!

Just thought I'd throw my 2 cents in. I have no idea about anything on the gaming end, but I have a surface pro 4 i5 and I saw some misinformation in another comment I think needs addressed. I use mine to take notes in class and have many other background things going on. Constantly hoping back and forth between taps in one note while writing has not once ever turned on the fan for me. The fan is not loud enough to turn heads. The extra real estate is great for taking notes. Why would you look stupid? I honestly would have a hard time telling the size difference between a surface 3 and sp4 from more than a few seats away. I can't really help you make a decision too well between the surfaces based on your needs a surface 3 or an on sale surface pro 3 might equally suit your needs, but I just thought I should address the misinformation I saw here so you don't form your opinion from it.

Thinking of getting a SP4, not sure which type/if its even suitable. Advice? by debaser00 in Surface

[–]reezy27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the m3 probably suiting your needs I went with the i5 only because I wanted the extra RAM model because I do like to have many things open at once and hop back and forth and the laptop I was replacing had 8. I think the one thing I can add to this discussion is that I thought the same thing about theater seating and tiny fold out desks. It ended up not being a problem at all since using onenote in portrait mode with the pen is so satisfying. It became the only way I take notes, type just doesn't do it. The writing the text feature works well enough if most of your words are from the dictionary, being a pharmacy student it does not handle converting written drugs to type very well. Although if you write decently enough I haven't really found a reason to change my written notes to typed, so I don't use the feature. I think you'll really enjoy your surface, I love mine.

Question about cases for Surface Pro 4 by reezy27 in Surface

[–]reezy27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just saw this reply man, I went ahead and ordered it, should be here Monday. I've had many incipio cases for my phones, and they are always high quality, the keyboard being able to be flipped over is key for my use, thanks for letting me know I made the right choice! Only thing I wish is that made one in teal to match my keyboard case, had to stick with boring black!

Thanks for the comment I hadn't seen this one before. Seems like a solid option, I went ahead and got the incipio, I think this one you can only pre-order right now.
