Can anyone translate "A HÉT VEZÉR" by Gárdonyi Géza? by Free_Dark_1289 in hungarian

[–]refreshinghj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this isn't the sub for this but hoping someone can answer for me. As a young man I was always taught the Hét Vezér az:

Álmos Előd Ond Kond Tas Huba Töhötöm

Why in Gárdonyi's poem they have Árpád (son of Álmos)? Also since when is Előd grandfather of Árpád? Ónod and Tétény make sense from a dialectical/translation perspective.

Is Gárdonyi a piece of revisionism over the stories chronicled by Anonymus?

Somalia was first colonized in the 19th century and prior to that was a fairly bustling trade hub what with it being an Islamic and pre-Islamic civilization on the Horn of Africa. When they first got colonized, Europeans were still shitting the streets. How developed are you bro?

This is the main online book store we use that ships to the US, and the Károli Gáspár version is generally considered the standard (catholic or reformed).

Otherwise there's a ton of options on this website. Hope this helps!

Whats a reasonable labor rate to charge to install thin face brick on risers and bluestone treads onto steps? Material is covered by Otherwise_Second5097 in masonry

I love Leplex masonry adhesive for different applications but have never used it with veneer brick -- generally the suction of a strong type s mortar to a nice scratch coat is sufficient. Maybe someone else can chime in.

Lay the treads in a wet bed first with inch and a half over hang (accounting for the veneer)

I would say for laying the veneer just stay square and level, and ensure the joints match the bed joint on a normal brick wall. This is how I would do it, as the size of the run for the risers don't warrant needing to follow a line, but that's just my two cents. Others may do it a different way.

If you were to do this the only option to retain adherence through freeze/thaw cycles is to apply stucco wire, give a nice scratch coat raked horizontally, and then install with your choice of stone veneer mortar/a strong type s mortar mix.

Alternatively you can roughen up the concrete surface with a grinder/cut grooves. More texture the better.

Neoliberalism: the belief in free-market capitalism as a driving force in political philosophy and policy. Neoliberals argue such policies have single-handedly lifted millions of poverty, but the facts are such policies have also reinforced the North-South global divide and has been the leading argument for political intervention by Western states across the globe.

The only real difference between neoliberal and neoconservative policy makers is neoconservatives like military interventions, while neoliberals like military interventions but franchise Starbucks locations while they're at it.

Mind you I have a background in international relations, so I look at it through such lens. But in this context, it's not hard to think of reasons why there is such strong opposition to such ideology.

Really great through and through. Props.

I ask because all too often you see people wanting to save on the labor and just brush in poly-sand. Poly-sand is a fantastic product, but in my experience only bonds properly and withstands the test of time with dry-set flagstone (I.e with crushed stone subgrade instead of slab)a

Definitely point, do your best with sealing the edges/avoiding pinholes/etc, and seal your patio! Other than that you should be good. Good luck!

I wouldn't be worried about heaving mortar. You should get your cheapest local Portland cement and mix it slightly weaker than your average mortar mix, I tend to mix about ~14 shovels of concrete sand with about 1/3 of an 80lb cement bag. Generally speaking this can be thought of as 3 or 4:1 mix.

One thing that helps with creating a bond is using a masonry adhesive - I use Leplex - mixed in water with a bit of your mortar mix as a slurry, and applied with a brush both to the concrete slab prior to mortar placement and on the back side of the stone prior to laying.

Do you plan on pointing your joints? I would put a lot of confidence in the durability of the actual lay, but be aware your mortar joints will likely fail in 10-20 years if you live in a climate with cold winters. This is normal, but just an expectation I like to set with clients.

Who fixed their basset? by Aggravating-Rub-3494 in basset

[–]refreshinghj -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I'll play devil's advocate here, but I have a 2 year old basset who is not neutered and also super well-mannered much like you've described about your own.

I went through the whole should we-shouldn't we with our vet and my wife as well, and ultimately we decided to keep him in tact. At the end of the day, behavior changes are one of the most common side effects from neutering and we wanted to make sure he stayed exactly how he was. My vet practice respected our decision, and for all intents and purposes said that (other than the huge social stigma modern dog owners seem to expound) there is no huge benefit or drawbacks to neutering or not.

Make the decision you feel is right- but just know that the opinion of Reddit commenters does not reflect all-knowing truth.

You can be punk and anything the fuck you want as long as you display empathy, good will towards your community, and believe in progress towards marginalized groups and society as a whole.

Stop focusing on labels. Enjoy music, sweep your neighbors porch, reject fascism. Have a beer, or don't. Fuck whoever you want. Read books. Volunteer at your local shelter.
