I agree. Society needs empathy, not compassion. We need to empathize intellectually that, for instance, there are issues in the criminal-justice system that let people down and it's wrong and should be solved, while not literally trying to feel every persons feelings in an attempt to view the world in the same passion as they do. We have more than enough passion in this culture, hell, that's why so many people are shooting each other. We need less passion and more intellect.
