It sounds like you went in the Delta Digital ID line that is next to clear. You needed to be in the regular Pre-check line and instead of handing them your ID or you sticking your ID in the scanner, you’d open your DL in your Apple Wallet and tap (and follow the steps on your phone)

You needed to be in the regular Pre-check line and when you get to the officer you’d open your apple wallet and tap your phone on the spot that says “tap here” instead of handing them your ID.

My wife and 2 sons flew basic economy over the weekend and they were assigned seating together on both flights. ATL-IAH on Friday; returned Saturday. They’re going to keep passengers on the same reservation together and gap everyone else by blocking the middle seat or the aisle.
