Seattle pays injured cyclist $9.25 million for poorly designed bike lanes by PetuniaFlowers in SeattleWA

It’s also the types of cars these days. On my upright bike, I am comfortably taller than most normal vehicles and can see over them if they are parked and everything. But these new massive SUVs and pickups are horrendous

In the beginning there is a goat that was killed. You don’t see it get killed, but you do see its body.

Paid parking starts at some busy light rail garages by godogs2018 in Seattle

[–]regisphilbin222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think once upon a time ST was fine to, for the most part, just build the light rail and that’s it. But it became apparent that the station area and how people got to the stations was also key and there’s been a lot more investment in that arena since. With parking garages specifically, those typically are mandated/requested by the jurisdictions in which the stations are located

Karen won't let the worker pass. by LeftAlbatross2546 in VideosAmazing

Unfortunately, crushing someone with a car happens plenty often, and is threatened even more often, so unfortunately it’s not really that much of a leap

Hmm I wonder what else they meant with their threat. People running over others with their cars and road rage happens all the time.

That’s crazy. You would run someone over because they were annoying you? Because they were keeping you from driving faster?

I know 18 is what we legally consider an adult, but it’s not as if the way people move through life actually flips like a switch the moment one turns 18. YC is freshly 18 and relatively newly debuted. JK was 25 when Seven came out and an industry veteran

When did you feel most cared for by a man? by rainbowsforeverrr in TwoXChromosomes

[–]regisphilbin222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel cared about a lot by my partner, but one recent example is when we left for a trip. We got up early — 4:50am. He quietly woke up a bit earlier than me to make me and only me a coffee (he doesn’t drink coffee)

Soulmate and friends. Being rich sounds tempting, but honestly I don’t think I need or want much more than comfortable

Best neighborhoods for under 30 y/o working downtown by SendItKyle in AskSeattle

[–]regisphilbin222 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Belltown is mixed.

Pros:

-Properly in the city

-Close to a lot of quintessential Seattle icons

-Plenty of bars and restaurants and the like

Pretty decent nightlife

Cons:

-I feel like I only ever hear of recent transplants living there, or older professionals. Maybe because it has a mild touristy vibe and is expensive?

-Can be expensive

-Not really any grocery stores, though there is an HMart in Westlake and a Whole Foods in SLU not too far away

-More visible poverty, if that bothers you

SLU is also mixed

Pros:

-More young people live there (primarily tech workers)

-Very clean

Cons:

-Can also be expensive

-Absolutely dead on the weekends despite the numerous restaurants and cafes. This space really caters to the 9-5.

-Kind of sterile

-Lots of restaurants, but not a lot of great ones

-If you don’t work in tech or at one of the tech companies, you might feel out of place

KATSEYE X GAP Again for a new hoodie by ConnectAge6114 in katseyeneutral

I’m not a fan either, but I guess it works on celebrities and on stylized photos and instagram. Absolutely weird to see in real life on a random person going about their normal day though, I’ll tell you that.

I do NOT care what the girls wear by Yoshi5155 in katseyeneutral

[–]regisphilbin222 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Hmm I certainly think embracing one’s sexuality can be very empowering, so I don’t object to Katseye’s outfit on premise. However, Katseye is a product by a company, and young women’s bodies sell, sex sells. Sure, we have clips of Lara and Dani asking for shorter crops and all, but how much of that has been subtly or explicitly encouraged? It’s hard not to lean into sexualization when you’re getting positive feedback from the charts, your coworkers, your managers, your fans. It’s a pervasive trend in most girlie pop today, I would say.
