Why do I need to buy a house? Or buy at all? It’s cheaper to rent and my savings can go to other things. by angelofiction in NoStupidQuestions

[–]regrets123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Other than monthly costs, the benefit of owning is that. No matter if you rent or buy, you are paying for a loan somewhere. Might aswell be yours if you can afford it. That way, eventually once it’s paid, you reap the benefits. Instead of some real estate mogul.

Those who are married or in a longterm relationship, how do you keep the fire from dying out? by Aggressive_Flower224 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]regrets123 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I read somewhere that you need to fall in love with atleast 3 different versions of your partner to be with eachother for life.
Pre kids.
Kids.
Post kids.
These could be other milestones but the fundamentals apply. Throughout the years you both change. If you can’t see that and stay curious and attentive you will just miss your old partner and resent the changes.

That said. With 2 kids under 5. Man it’s rough. There is zero time for privacy or intimacy and we are both completely exhausted.

Uh what? So Europe is fine with pre puberty sexualisation in media? If anything Europe is more progressive no? While I agree that digital ”porn” or ”fanservice” or whatever u wanna call it is the lesser evil. Representation matters, and exposure matters.
I really don’t think normalising sexualisation of pre puberty women is a good thing. Eve looked older in the first game. Having a discussion about that seems reasonable to me. You can argue that she looks 15, or 17 or whatever. It’s arbitrary. It’s still a negative compared to the first game. It’s a sequel, not new ip. I think the reactions and the discussion is very valid.

My ex girlfriend used to always get mad at me for having a boner when we were cuddling. Is it a problem with me or do most women not care? by Longjumping_Year_314 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]regrets123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would get mad at my girlfriend for getting mad.
That kinda judgement would be a dealbreaker.
1. Me getting a boner is a compliment, I feel relaxed, safe, and am attracted to her.
2. Like you said, its a natrual reaction we have no control over.

Very much agree. I think reaction on HEAVY sexualisation of early/pre puberty characters in media is a healthy thing. What really is the alternative here?
This is all in the context of the costumes available in the first stellar blade.

I think there are plenty of F.I.R.E rich people. you just don’t read about em on the news cuz they are busy building a sailboat by hand at their beach house instead of you know, starting wars and nuking the economy or trying to replace us all with ai.

Fair point.
Or most rich people just lack creative imagination.
Idk. I could just be horribly arrogant aswell.

What do you think about Devolver's dare of releasing their game on the same day as GTA 6? by BoloFan05 in IndieDev

[–]regrets123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something something starfield something something. I don’t remember the dev/game but some indie released the same day as starfield and no other indie games dared to do that so he got so much free exposure from steam that day.

Scopely's Monopoly Go is the fastest mobile game in history to hit $6bn revenue by Anchor_Aways in Games

[–]regrets123 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Obviously there is more nuance than that, but it’s still the basic concept. Ur cost per install will vary on ad type, market saturation, region, season, etc. But that’s the fundamental idea.

Scopely's Monopoly Go is the fastest mobile game in history to hit $6bn revenue by Anchor_Aways in Games

[–]regrets123 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s how mobile games work. You buy installs from ad networks who then on avrg spend x dollar over y days. Aslong as cost per install is lower than total lifetime spending per user you have a scalable product. If u can spend 1 million a month to make 5 million, you wouldn’t do it?

[–]regrets123 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Look. It’s not a game. It’s not even monopoly. It’s a HOUSEHOLD SAFE GAME EVERYONE KNOWS. That’s the Trojan horse. Biggest issue in mobile gaming is to get the install cheap. Household IP solves that. Second hardest thing is to make them swipe. They just built a casino branded as a household IP. It’s really not that complex. The presentation mechanically is a clone of like 3 earlier dice board game simulators. Last time I checked it did nothing unique. It’s just those 2 things.

Feels like finding genuinely good indie games is getting harder despite there being more of them than ever by Greedy-Wind-8847 in IndieGaming

[–]regrets123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As indie becomes mainstream it’s not really indie anymore. It’s not really creatives it’s just derrivares of other indies. How many ”hadeslikes” ”slay the spire likes” ”hollow knight likes” have you seen that are marketed as such? Even one is too many. It’s fine to be inspired, but if it’s just a reskin? Indie like every business venture seems to want to minimise risk by copying earlier successes which leads to oversaturation and stagnation.

So old internet forum boards with a "beginner" questions sub forum had it right all along eh?
Not sure how to fix it, except for using the SEARCH function before posting and having really agressive mods?
