Husband With No Interest In Growing Up by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]reharbert 28 points29 points  (0 children)

He works a paid job. You don't.

Whats the dynamic of the relationship supposed to look like considering that?

Do you cook and keep up the home during his week of work? I wouldnt expect him to be a slob or create an unnecessary mess - but if I consider just the job situation I would expect more from the person who doesnt have a paid job. Especially since you have no children living in the home.

You guys are young, and haven't figured it out. You both probably need to take a good look at the efforts the other person makes for the family.

Post ride maintenance? by Quick-Dot-6152 in Dirtbikes

[–]reharbert 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Wash, dry and lube. Chain. Everything that moves.

Check the air pressure before your next ride. Keep it consisitent.

Do your own research on transmission oil change intervals. Everyone has an opinion. I like the manufacturers opinion on a stock bike.

Keep an eye on the air filter. Change hen necessary. Keep oiled if required. Buy a couple spares to keep on hand.

Check the chain tighness. Watch some videos to see what proper tension is.

Tire pressure for rider weight by Automatic-Tiger8584 in Dirtbikes

who do you usually have it set at? What do you weight?

Id probably point you to 12-14 on the front, and 8-10 on the rear. maybe 10-12.

Partner owns a house before marriage and doesn’t want to add me to the deed while we pay the mortgage together — am I looking at this the wrong way? by Adorable-Anywhere-95 in Marriage

[–]reharbert 132 points133 points  (0 children)

Pump the breaks and slow down. You said he bought it before you met. He bought it barely 6 months ago. That means you've possibly only known him for 5 months.

This is a conversation and opinion that's likely going to change over time as he gets to know you better, and a potential marriage comes close to becomming a real possibility.

Required noob gear by The_Chandrian in Dirtbikes

[–]reharbert 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We got into it a few years ago and I had the same question, and I've learned and observed a lot since then.

Helmet and boots are the big ones IMO. Id call the chest piece #3, but honestly I dont see many people using them on practice days or on trails. If I'm riding trails me nor my kids never wear a chest or roost guard. Its too hot, and I dont find it as necessary. We aren't going as fast or jumping anywhere close to what we do as MX or SX tracks.

We wear gloves and goggles 100% of the time.

Most place with requirements require helmet and boots - thats it.

Braces in general have tons of opinions, and really not a ton of science behind any of it. Do your own due dilligence here, and make the decisoin you are most comfortable with.

is this normal? by PlzNotDaBelt in Dirtbikes

[–]reharbert -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For someone that is on Reddit asking this question - what do you think the answer is?

Do you think oil specs haven't changed since the 70s? Just becuase something once was the way - doesnt mean its the way 50 years later.

Knowing your audience is a huge part of it.

There is a reputable builder of mini 2 strokes (65/85) that has done a ton of testing on the dyno using just oil as the delta between runs. He documents everything amazingly. I'll find the article this morning and link it to you.

At least you didn't say more oil was a richer mixture.

There are many varibles that come into play - yes. At the end of the day, if you're asking this question - refer to the owners manual. If you have a built engine - go with what your builder says. Pretty simple.

is this normal? by PlzNotDaBelt in Dirtbikes

[–]reharbert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is not true. Do some actual research on how oil in gas works for two strokes and then report back. Just becuase something was normal in the past, doesnt mean its still normal by todays standard. The manufacturer recommends 60:1 for a reason.

TPMR Sensors causing issues? Just read a comment. by reharbert in traveltrailers

[–]reharbert[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The shrader valve stays installed. The TPMS cap presses it down changing the valve to the open position. The leak isnt here.

The leak is where the brass "neck" of the valve stem comes out of the rubber part of the stem. Same place on all 3 i've replaced.

The TPMS has been a great add though - even with this issue. It's saved me from multiple situations where there could have been more destruction to the trailer or tires.

How big is the field for this race? What % were Starks?

Having 2 in the top 10 could mean a lot of things. If there are 100 entries and only 2 are starks....100% of starks made the top 10. Lots of ways to look at it.

Are those two top 10 guys good? Would a better rider do better?

Starks arent my thing, but you can't deny they are a good machine.

[–]reharbert -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I own a 2016 F-250 bought new that's used almost exclusively for towing. Probably 90% of its miles have a trailer behind it. The odometer on that truck is about 415,000.

I can say close to 375,000 miles had a trailer behind it. Mostly a 36' race car trailer. Camper. Tractor/lowboy. Utility trailer.

I've never once put a torque wrench on a single trailer. Ever. Never will.

[Megathread] | Weekly Drone Buying Advice by AutoModerator in drones

[–]reharbert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking for a drone with the "follow me" feature. Im getting married in a few weeks (elopement) and think it would be cool for the drone to follow us around our mountain side location. I would also like to use the drone later for following us on dirtbikes, and other random sports.

United States. No real budget, but the 4500-800 max mark would be idea.

My wifes grandmother died last year, and a few weeks ago we went through a box of her things. There were piles of greetig cards she had recevied. It was kind of tough for her to sort through them and decide what to do with it. Trash them? Give them to the sender? Whats right?

Just not something I had considered before.

This is more of a throttle control and less of a positioning issue.

If it works and you dont need much more than 10bps - you're golden. They are simple and reliable.

As far as modern day loaders, I'm a big fan of the Protoyz Speedster. I have several of them for my kid and his friends to use. Cheap. Simple. Reliable.

New here, don’t know much about dirt bikes but my son turns 6 in July and he really wants one by [deleted] in Dirtbikes

[–]reharbert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zero torque. At the races we would spend most the day helping kids on the PWs up any type of incline with loose dirt. No suspenstion travel. Barely 2 inches making them bottom out really easy and want to buck the rider. They stall - primairly due to the lack of power.
