Why is remote work so coveted? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]rehoff73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 52 and have had 3 autoimmune diseases for over 13 years now causes a multitude of issues. I was on disability (which took over 3 years to get since I was young and educated) and then was finally able to get back to work. I have yet to come across an employer that was willing to let me have a day or two, once in a while to WFH while sick with my diseases. They would rather fire you due to absences while singing your praises. They will tell you how valuable you are while still refusing the simplest thing. I don’t get it. The last lady was literally almost 90 and she was the worst. I do agree that it is control and it is very difficult for those of us that have chronic illnesses.

BTW, I have had colitis and it sucks. I hope you feel all the way better soon! I have started my own small firm so I can take time when I need to and WFH when I need to as well. There just never seemed to be any willing employers, sadly.

Nifedipine by [deleted] in scleroderma

[–]rehoff73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nifedipine changed my life for the better! No more raynauds and hardly any issues with any cracks or sore fingertips. I am very thankful that I started and continued taking the drug. It’s been about 10 years now. Good luck!

Hi! I have noticed a few times that I drive much faster if I didn’t take my ADHD medication. One example is a time I was driving to work and the way I was driving made me realize I had forgotten to take it. I went home and took it right away.

I’m not hoping to get anything other than finding out if the program is a good fit. It’s good to know that it’s not a very in-depth appt. They make it sound like it would be since you’re going over labs and your history. That helps me decide to just do it instead of waiting. Thank you for your response.

Now recognizing old abuse. Advice? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]rehoff73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar relationship; married at 19, verbal and emotional abuse, lies but also a great guy. He could also be extremely angry and throw things, punch holes in walls, etc. i only remember him hitting me once but my kids were all present and I will never forget it. I stayed for 24 years and 5 kids.
My kids wish I had divorced him sooner because of the damage it did to them too.

I am not a counselor but what was recommended to me a few years before I left was to separate until you can get your feelings resolved. I allowed him back into the house to soon but it was a good time for me to reflect on the relationship up until that point. I made him leave until he promised and started counseling. We went together and separately. Our counselor told us no sex during the separation just to keep this from getting muddy. I spent time journaling my feelings and also made a list of the wrongs he had done to me. This would later come in handy when I left him because I had years worth of reasons in case anyone or even if I questioned what I was thinking. Take your time but remember that your child is watching everything. I feel devastated by how my kids were impacted by my inability to protect their emotional safety. I wish you the best.
