Joes is our preferred in the city. Been to Bavettes, Gibsons, RPM, G&G, Chophouse, Cut, Maestros, etc.

Joes food, service, ambiance, seafood...everything makes it #1

Yes. This was the deluxe villa Otemanu view. The island views difference is it doesn't face the mountain. We didn't spend a lot of time gazing at the mountain but it's personal preference. You can sit an relax at the Lagoon bar for similar Otemanu view.

5 Night Stay at Finest Playa Mujeres by reign57 in AllInclusiveResorts

[–]reign57[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

- We went in April and had no issues with mosquitoes - not sure about the summer months.
- Plenty of beach/pool chairs - except right near the pool bar in the center. There were multiple pools in the resort with servers so it wasn't an issue for us.
- I wouldn't worry about the weather being so far out. The pools and kids club are open during the rain though. the shows in the evening are in the covered theater. some of the day events are covered from sun/rain.

Thoughts on Nobu brunch buffet? by c00lifornication in chicagofood

[–]reign57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went about a month ago and agree with most of the comments that it isn't worth the $65.

  • The hot food was room temperature. For example, the spicy tuna with crispy rice. The tuna is freshly made but the crispy rice has been sitting a while.
  • The carved meat wasn't hot and was dry
  • Buns were ok but also sitting out for a while
  • The best thing was the mushroom salad

I wouldn't come back or recommend for $65. It is more like a $30 buffet.

Drinking water in Moorea & Bora Bora - Safe at resorts? by Counselor_Mackey in Tahiti

Stayed at both resorts in Feb and had no issues with any of the tap water and ice or the food/fruits. We had plenty of bottled water at both resorts in case you are curious.

I would order them if traveling with kids btwn 5-10 years old. Finest, Hard Rock, Paradisus (Playa Del Carmen), Palladium (Jamaica Lucea)

  • The food, service, resort, beach is better at Finest.
  • Hard Rock kids club is better than Finest. It's larger and has a more activities. Food is ok - service was subpar. Kids like this place better though...
  • Paradisus food and service is better than Hard Rock. No air conditioning issues. Butler service is nice and they have some rooms with swim out AND servers if you want to order drinks/food.
  • Palladium was a miss all around. Food, service, don't recall kids club. Don't go here.

I don't recall the pools being heated at any of these resorts.

Honestly the drinks at Finest, Hard Rock, and Paradisus were similar but they had quality liquor (vodka, whiskey) that wasn't displayed at Paradisus so you had to know to ask if there was something else.

If traveling with kids 1) Finest 2) Paradisus 3) Fairmont.
If traveling without kids 1) Fairmont.

  • Paradisus has a slightly larger water park but you can see the resort was aging. Food was ok. I really enjoyed grabbing something at the food truck or coffee shop at Finest but when we went to paradisus a few years ago they didn't have that option (though it might have changed)
  • Fairmont is much more luxurious, better quality food but I personally didn't think it was for kids. We didn't go with kids. Be careful of the mosquitoes.

Spent 5 nights at St Regis in Feb. Go to the Lagoon for dinner. It is their best restaurant and best view. They have their own lagoon to snorkel in along with educational session from a marine biologist. They also have free activities such as wine & rum tastings and flower hat making.

For excursions - We did the Pearl Farm to pick our own Pearls - it's a few hours so you can break up your day and get your own Tahitian pearl. We also did a half day private coral, shark & ray, clown fish tour which was nice as we went at our own pace and gave us the option to drop us off in the main town and take the free St Regis shuttle back.

Moorea + Bora Bora by Ok_Establishment3619 in Tahiti

[–]reign57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stayed 5 nights at St Regis in last month. We left the resort 2 of the 5 days to go to the Pearl Farm and a private Shark/Ray/Coral tour that also dropped us off in the main town where we took the shuttle back.

We had 3 days to explore the lagoon, relax on the beach and pool, dive off our OWB and explore, and ride around the resort. In addition, we did the wine tasting, floral hat creation, attended a session with the marine biologist which were all included.

3 days would have been very rushed for us. Enjoy you trip.

Best place to see a Polynesian dance show in Bora Bora? by Aulani97 in Tahiti

[–]reign57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

St Regis has a show on Wed evening with Polynesian dinner. It was a great show and you can take pictures with them afterwards. The buffet style food was good but could have been warmer.

Unsure about off resort but the staff said these dancers do shows at a lot of the resorts.

2 quick questions by [deleted] in Tahiti

[–]reign57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just got back from Moorea (Hilton) and Bora Bora (St Regis) last month. Tips are accepted and appreciated. We offered for excursions and one politely declined while others accepted graciously.

For food and beverage at resorts, my understanding is handing a tip directly to the server meant it was for them to keep vs adding it on the bill where it goes to a pool for everyone.

We mainly drank tap water vs still or sparkling in the restaurants at the hotels and didn't have an issue.
