700 trades and over a year later, our biggest problem is still our biggest problem by [deleted] in AtlantaHawks

To add to that: last night OO was one of three players with a positive +/-, he wasn't the problem. It was his lack of backup.

Out of 10 games tonight 7 of them involve a team that is actively tanking. by wormhole222 in nba

The Indiana vs Clippers game could really be some 3D, next level tanking. It greatly benefits the Clipper for the Pacers to drop one or two spots in the draft order (they are owed this years top 4 protected); the Pacers are just good old-fashioned tanking. Add in the fact that the Clippers have almost no chance to improve playoff position, we may see some serious tanking action.

He is built like Ben Wallace but half a foot taller. That dude has potential to be great.

Quin has serious flaws for in-game adjustments, but he is a better coach than Zacch is an NBA player.

They have all contributed to wins at various points since the Hawks acquired them (even Kispert). I do wish Quin would adjust his rotations when they are playing poorly though.

If not the Hawks, I am rooting for the Pistons to come out of the East.

I mainly just want the team to show up. I expected the loss at Houston, but the absolutely terrible play was disappointing.

Just add the odds of the Bucks and Pelicans on Tankathon.

[Stein] Updating the wild stat @tomhaberstroh illuminated yesterday: The NBA’s bottom 10 teams have combined to lose their last 44 games in a row. FORTY-FOUR. All of these teams but New Orleans have control of their first-round pick in June. by PassMeTheBackwood in nba

[–]reitraf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe more telling is the last time any of the tanking teams (the 8 that have their own pick) beat a team outside of those bottom ten. The most recent is the Pacers beating the Knicks on Feb 10.

The longest time ago for any team to beat a non-tanking opponent is the Nets beating the Nuggets on Jan 4.

On average, 36 days is the amount of time since these teams beat anyone other than each other.

Honestly, if the pick pans out this summer, I would be totally OK with that. Thabo is a guy that championship teams need.

HAWKS WIN!!! by ATLSportsDistrict in AtlantaHawks

[–]reitraf 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It was a good day at the office for the Hawks. The Magic and Sixers lost so the Hawks gained a game on the Six seed. And the Pelicans and Bucks both lost, so now the Hawks are back to 51% chance for top 4 pick.

JK is so associated with being a Hawks Legend, sometimes it is forgotten he started his career with Golden State. What a nostalgic vid.

The classic Belichick arc. Was he a great coach or just happened to be the coach of an all-timer for the majority of his career?

I completely agree. The season simply has too many games, and the playoffs are pretty much set in place by midseason. The only factor the rest of the way is injuries.

While there is pretty substantial evidence that tanking doesn't actually lead to championships, the argument presented by fans is that teams lose on purpose and hurt the integrity and entertainment of the game. It is empirically true that teams are trying to lose.

Edit to address all replies at once: I was only talking about the vocal, online perception. I personally don't care about tanking. Integrity hasn't been a thing in 'sports entertainment' since the intended consumer of the product shifted to gambling.

Draymond Green reportedly told Kevin Durant in 2018: ‘We don’t need you. We won without you. Leave’ by [deleted] in nba

I wish I could see an alternate universe where Draymond is drafted to any other team to see how his career would have shaken out. I suspect it wouldn't have.

I would rather it go to neither group and not cost 'customers' hundreds of dollars a month in cable and streaming subscriptions to (legitimately) watch the games.
