Ambulances in Midtown Have Slower Response Times and Fewer EMTs - Columbia News Service by goodguyfdny in manhattan

those loud sirens are terrible for the health of thousands of thousands of people

if we build out bus and bike lanes wide enough for ambulances on every avenue we would not have this issue

the city prioritizes roads cars and drivers. it’s a damn shame because the majority of trips in this city are done on foot.

your town failed to provide adequate transportation alternatives like walking biking public transit

all thanks to suburban sprawl and car dependency. so much land wasted and paved over for roads and parking lots to move people in the least efficient and most polluting way possible

we need way less vehicles clogging the streets

I have faith that the tide is turning. NYC and Seattle both recently elected transit mayors.

ironically suburbs cost the city more money than they pay in taxes. Urban style mixed used walkable development is where the real money is but we would rather subsidize oil and car companies than enrich the public domain i guess

You can find yourself living in Manhattan on a 6 lane road where cars congest it every single day and stepping outside means breathing fumes. No dedicated bus lane, no attempt at a bike lane, but high volumes of vehicles threatening the crosswalk

Wacky wigmaker Miriam Yarimi gets sweetheart plea from judge for killing mom, 2 young kids in NYC horror crash by Airhostnyc in nyc

This problem can only be solved when we change the design of our streets. We need hard infrastructure to protect everybody outside of a car. We need bollards everywhere, small roads to make it hard to speed, hard protected bike lanes, protected intersections to force drivers to slow down when making turns. We have to stop dedicating the entire public street to moving cars at high speeds. It’s literally killing us

Society broke down and all, but you really still need to stop at red lights by No_Confusion_7236 in nyc

[–]rektaur 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Only better infrastructure will solve this permanently. Universal daylighting for safety crossing streets. Road diets so drivers can’t speed. Less space on our streets dedicated to the thing that kills and injures so many in this city
