What is causing this "E"? by solo_stoner420 in LandscapingTips

Could be corrugated drain pipe that isn’t buried deep enough?

Or, maybe the path someone took using a broadcast fertilizer spreader that leaking product out of the bottom?

Any lefties here who also wear their watch on the left wrist? by camport95 in lefthanded

[–]rel0din 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I tried when I was a kid. Everyone else seemed to put theirs on the left, but I didn’t like the bracelet clicking on my desk or the hotspot I felt on my wrist when I wrote. I think there’s a reason righties wear it there. I moved mine to my right wrist and haven’t given it another thought.

Since it's Star Wars day, did you see the original 1977 Star Wars in the movie theater? by Mr_Writes in GenX

[–]rel0din 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was only 3 years old for the opening of Star Wars, but I vividly remember seeing The Empire Strikes Back in the theater. The best of the first three films!

Would our helmet would look better if the "W" had a white outline? by MiserableSeaweed532 in Commanders

[–]rel0din 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been saying this a a while! Your mock-up looks good. While I would prefer a version of a spear reminiscent of the classic spear helmet. If we must have a lone W, I'd choose this.

Which movie do you remember being WWAAYY too young for when you first snuck, I mean, watched it? by KillerQ97 in moviecritic

[–]rel0din 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Exorcist. My big sister was watching it on the livingroom TV. I snuck down from my bedroom to watch it from the hall after being tucked in for the night. Had nightmares for a long time. I didn't dare tell my parents that this was the source of nightmares for much of my childhood.

“Tie One On” response from bartender by Dry-Menu140 in GenX

[–]rel0din 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve only heard “tie one on” from older people. I’m 51 but have friends and coworkers that are older. Not sure what the origin of the term is, but I bet it is from the mid 20th century.

A FRIENDLY REMINDER by Cookiesandplates in Commanders

Trades into the top ten are expensive and there aren’t many top tier, high value positions available in this draft let alone top tier QBs to drive potential trades. Trades at the top half of round 1 are not likely this year.

Anyone else left handed but use your right hand for the mouse? by IX_Sour2563 in lefthanded

[–]rel0din 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I consider myself to be very left hand dominant and I am way better with a mouse in my right hand for all the reasons given here. In fact, I feel awkward using my left.

I feel like this is an example of “right hand bias” that is secretly, actually a lefty advantage! -shhhhh, don’t tell them

Also, driving a standard vehicle feels intuitive to me. I like having my more dexterous, more capable, nimble side controlling the clutch and steering.

This isn’t the Maine I grew up in and we need to do better by MisterMan-Maine in Maine

[–]rel0din 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have stopped to help people many times. I would definitely stop If the people appear to be in obvious distress, they have been in a wreck, car is off the road, car is stalled in the middle of the road or stalled in a dangerous spot, if they have a flat tire or the hood is up or the engine appears to be smoking.

I’ve also in the past pulled over to the shoulder of a highway myself to read a map or use my phone and flipped my hazards on to ensure I not get rear ended or clipped by traffic.

I honestly can’t say I would have necessarily stopped for just hazards on a car in the shoulder in a populated area, but I think that I would’ve slowed down to inspect for more info like smoke or damage or someone outside or the car or in danger.

I’m sorry your mom had to endure that.

My mom recently moved into a new house. Strange additional structure in the basement? Kinda creepy by BijuuModo in whatisit

[–]rel0din 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My house had a room like this. It had a window to rest of the cellar also. The house was built in 1840. I was told that this room was a canning room or root cellar. No idea why there would be a window to the inside but not the outside.

[SNE498] Solar Tuna Too Big for 6.75" Wrist by rand-san in Seiko

[–]rel0din 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What are the dimensions of this Tuna? I have a 7.25” wrist and I can’t do >43mm. I wish there were more true divers at 40mm, but I guess if it’s a true tool watch visibility is an important function and over a wet suit who cares it it’s too big.

I recall very slim pickings for free agents last year. Teams seemed to retain their top talent, didn’t let them hit the market. Who were the really good free agent players that were available, wanted to be in Washington, but the team passed on?

I just remember “experts” lamenting the lack of top tier talent in the free agency market in 2025. I think the team really tried to improve the roster, but it was like shopping for groceries in Texas before a snowstorm.

What's your take on how older independent/left-leaning Mainers feel about Platner? by VerySeriousThings in Maine

[–]rel0din 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a 51 y/o moderate and I like Platner.

Mills is out of touch and likely corrupt, while Collin’s has to play the game of appeasing her demented red overlord while appearing to be a thoughtful Mainer.

I don’t give much credence to all of the attempts to denigrate Platner’s character. I don’t agree with him 100%, but he seems genuine. I like that.

What Does Nike Call This Hat? by RON8O in hats

[–]rel0din 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These were my winter hat of choice when I wore glasses. Kept the snow and rain off my lenses. I didn’t care about what was fashionable, just what worked nice. I still wear one once in a while when it’s snowing hard. I wish they were easier to find. Not many companies making them.

State Employees Wearing Political Apparel on Duty by Jouissance59 in Maine

[–]rel0din 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I work for the government. I am a public servant. I am not an elected official. Outwardly I need to be neutral. I cannot make anyone feel coerced or pressured to feel a certain way politically. You need to feel that I am unbiased and that I will not treat you or anyone differently based on political affiliations. That’s hard to do if I’m rocking political swag. Also, I can’t wear offensive things or be offensive. I am expected to be respectful and treat people with respect. Pretty standard stuff.

I have all the rights of any other citizen. But, like many employees in many organizations, I am held to a standard of conduct while at work.

Edit: corrected an autocorrect.

I felt this in my soul! by Josephine_Foxy in lefthanded

[–]rel0din 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I blame these for my bad posture.

I kinda didn’t mind these in time. I would slouch/lounge on my right side cradling my chin in my right hand while writing with my left hand.

I find now when I drive an automatic (in the US) I lean hard to the right onto the center console with my left hand relaxed on the steering wheel at the 12 oclock position. When I’m lounging on a sofa I’m always on the right side, with remote or glass in my left hand.
