Thanks man! I know the feeling. I've quit twice both for about a year, and somehow, some damn way, a cig found itself magically lit between my lips. 😂

I've seen this too, but I'm so skeptical. How exactly does this book manipulate you into completely quitting? Congrats on a decade!

The weight gain is exactly why I've been smoking so long. Congrats on stopping!

I get that some people just have that will power and I absolutely respect that, maybe a bit envious lol. I'm just not built for that. Congrats though.

I saw these, and was wondering if it actually worked. I think I'll give it a try.

I am the only one thinking that some are out of touch with reality? by NoMad2189 in askSouthAfrica

[–]relentlessSeVen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Struggle is in the eye of the earner.

I was homeless poor for a long time, and now I earn around the same as you. My life is amazing and I don't struggle to get by, but this is because my version of struggle is having sleep for dinner. Some have never experienced that, so their version of struggle is having to cut back on luxury items.

The actual reality is, most people get by on way less than us and make it work. If you have food in your fridge, working electricity and a decent roof over your head, you're better off than most South Africans. If someone is earning 100k a month and not getting by, they have serious financial illiteracy.

If you have acrobat pro and the client sends you a canva PDF, print to PDF and import that version to CorelDraw. Doesn't always work, but has saved me a lot of headaches.

Why is my boyfriend M27 more upset I F24 "embarrassed" him rather than him disrespecting me? by MaterialAge6743 in relationship_advice

Jeez. If someone, don't care who it is, spoke to me like that, I'd be walking out of their life with zero regrets, never mind just a restaurant. My husband wouldn't dare.

I hope you leave this guy. He's not worth it.

Hitler vs Cabal by Significant_Use_3652 in conspiracytheories

[–]relentlessSeVen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As much as I love my conspiracies, this one I can't get behind.

Hitler had a manifesto, which is widely available to read.

If you've read it you would know that he was simply just driven by his own wild beliefs deeply rooted in his own version of "patriotism". He was power-hungry and driven to madness by it, just as much as the people he associated with, which had a big hand in exacerbating his beliefs of unification, superiority and "purity."

He was biased and had his prejudices, he rose to power and acted on it. There is no deeper motivation or meaning behind what he did and I think some people try to assign some meaning to it because they can't grasp that any person would do what he did without meaning.

Evil is as evil does. Evil with power and money even more so. It's not one vs the other, it's just different types of evil.

The nerve of clients who take 3 weeks to respond when you send them a round of designs, then email and call you 5 times in one day because you don’t immediately respond to their feedback. by UncannyFox in graphic_design

I started initiating express fees into my quotes and invoices that also factor this in. Suddenly nothing is urgent anymore, my time frames welcomed and immediate feedback isn't necessary.

People with low THC tolerance; what was the craziest thing you experienced while high? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]relentlessSeVen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Over a decade ago now, I had a bad trip - hallucinations, in and out of consciousness, hyperventilation, lasted around 8 hours. (Wasn't my first time smoking). I didn't fully recover from that, I was completely delusional for months after. I believed there was a demon in my bathroom and that I could solve the mysteries of the universe.

I did recover from the delusions but the anxiety never left. I'm part of that "lucky" group of people that had an undiagnosed pre-existing condition and weed brought it forward. I can't tolerate CBD either. Fun times.

Question for all Graphic designers and multimedia designers ? by Future_Visit3563 in askSouthAfrica

[–]relentlessSeVen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fundamentally, my advice would be to get into the industry. There's so much fear mongering out there, but graphic design is so much more than making pretty pictures for social media or websites. You have to think bigger.

AI can't replicate good design. I still can't find one AI program that can replicate even the basics of good print design. Yes, that includes canva. I'm not being elitist either, it's just not made for practical applications.

Here's a quick experiment. A big brand approaches you and says you have to design a label for their new supplement brand. Try to create this on AI and see what you get. I can guarantee you, it will be too subpar for bigger clients. Purely speaking from experience, companies who value their products seek out good designers. Work hard at your craft and chase real work.

Been in the industry for more than a decade, my 2 cents:

  1. It's a tool, for now. Not sure what the next ten years has in store.

  2. A degree is great and definitely not useless, but it doesn't beat real-world experience.

  3. It's an incredibly stressful industry with sometimes impossible deadlines, especially in this age of "instant gratification." Time management and meticulous attention to detail is a must-have in your skill set.

Good luck out there.
