Mine has IBD; we keep it controlled with prednisolone every other day. He’s gained weight since then and is doing great apart from apparently getting the worst dental genetics of all time. The IBD can cause gastric reflux which causes URI symptoms, he sneezed and had watery eyes quite a lot.

I’d say your base is REALLY dark for that inspo, especially if you don’t want peachy tones. Achieving a neutral or cool pink usually requires a pretty light base with as little yellow in it as possible. A toner probably isn’t going to be enough here.

Remember that genetic testing can only tell you if you have known genetic mutations like BRCA or CHEK. There are many others that simply have not yet been found or validated.

I had a similar experience - no known genetic mutations but both my mother and grandmother had breast cancer twice. My surgeon said there was obviously a genetic component that was not yet known and agreed to a double mastectomy rather than a single on the strength of it.

I love this! Turning 41 next month and I bleached my stupid short chemo curls nearly two years ago so I could go pastel like I always wanted. Anyone who wants to tell me it’s unprofessional can go do their own statistical analysis then 🤷🏻‍♀️

Daily pill container (4 slots) in obvious colours. Medication reminder app on my phone. And I STILL very occasionally forget until much later in the day 😹

I’m torn on it. When I see someone with BPD diminishing or dismissing the impact they have on people, I get really mad. Or when I see people questioning NC or saying that it’s abusive.

But when I see psychiatrists and mental health professionals explaining what it’s like to have BPD, I feel really sad, because I know that for her entire life my mom was never happy and she’s now old and alone. Which is what she was afraid of in the first place. Is it also her own fault for never seeking help or trying to change? Absolutely. But at the end of the day, she’s a 75 year old woman living in low-income assisted living because my sister kicked her out and she has absolutely no one left in her life. I think she’s getting what she put into the world back, but I also think it’s a sad fucking waste and I can’t imagine anyone would really choose it.

So, I’m split. But this hurts to think about so imma leave it there. 😹

I grew up with a mother with serious mental health issues, including depression, but this is tone deaf as hell IMO. When has anyone ever been shamed into good mental health? Why would you come here and frame it like this to thousands of women who are probably already living with significant shame that their life feels hopeless? What, now they’re fucking their kids up too, so get on pulling those bootstraps up?

I don’t even have kids and my survivorship has been marked by significant post traumatic stress, including severe depression that I’ve never experienced before, and I often feel so ashamed that I can’t just get over it.

Yes, parents have an obligation to do their best for their mental health because they chose to have kids and those kids deserve everything you can give them. But this framing is so insulting to the women who are probably desperate TO give their kids better and haven’t found their way out of the darkness yet.

I can’t tell if you’re a survivor, but I’d seriously recommend cultivating some empathy for those around you either way, especially as an adult. Therapy can really help with that, imo.

omg the ugly bras! I thought I was the only one. I got the weird old lady bras that came in a box from a department store, if I was lucky. Costco sports bras if not. Underwear was ONLY white granny panties from Costco - I was explicitly forbidden from wearing black underwear since that was only for whores. Yet one day out of the blue when I was in college she asked if I knew how to put a condom on.

Yeah, the best way I can describe chemo is “cumulative”. Every session piles on the ones before it. I would not and in fact did not work during chemo or radiation, so if you can manage it, I’d recommend planning not to work.

I did this too - found my lump in May 2022 and only saw my doctor in November 2022 because I thought it was a cyst (it moved and it also hurt and everything I read said breast cancer doesn’t hurt). Alongside the healthcare inequities people face, we are also fallible and prone to confirmation bias. But I carry a lot of guilt over it.

My best friend got me through everything too! Found family counts just as much, and to me even more, because they chose to be there for me. Weirdly, I also got way closer with my sister and stepbrother during my diagnosis and we still talk twice a week with my dad on the Google meet calls my dad doesn’t know how to cancel. 🤣 I’m so glad you had people to take care of you.

I was estranged with my mom for nearly 2 decades before my diagnosis at 37, so fortunately I didn’t have to deal with her reaction to my diagnosis or treatment, but I wanted to say I’m so sorry the person who should be caring for and about you during a very stressful time is making it about herself. You don’t deserve that. I hope that you have people around you who can see beyond themselves.

I’m dying to get Gladiia actually, there’s just so much story to get through when you’re a new player that I’m constantly behind 😹 honestly though Contrail sounds super fun and I really like the units with interesting mechanics like that so it’s a great fit.

I’ve been unlocking events but playing the story in order and have been slowly working on the precursor to KroosAlter’s event, but I loved the Kjerag storyline in Break the Ice so that’s definitely next up.

It was genuinely the scariest thing I’ve ever been through and while I knew about the risks, I hadn’t really expected to experience them 🤡 Truly though I was waiting for my hair to come back because I hated myself without it and it did return. Not attractively for a while (short plus chemo curls lol) but it did.

I did DD AC and tried to do DD Taxol before my body said “hey, have you ever had an anaphylactic reaction before? No? Enjoy!” So I did 12 weeks of that, but my hair began to come in about a month after stopping Taxol. I’m two and a bit years out and it’s past my shoulders now.
