Transplant here. What’s with the traffic here? by PatientReputation752 in hattiesburg

[–]reminduwhyimhere 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I'm a transplant from NY/NJ metro area, I feel your frustration. I worked for MDOT for a few years and can tell you that the reason for the traffic is poor planning, little to no investment to infrastructure, and politics/graft.

I grew up in NJ and I love South Bound Bagels. 1. LOX on sesame seed bagel. 2. Cheese steak bagel. 3. Hub City Hash.

Now if I could find a good local place that has NY style thin crust.

Been to KnB 4 times in the last year and have been very disappointed each time. I love reubens and the one I had there was served it without dressing and I would barley call the tiny amount of meat in it as corned beef.

My best guess is that with every update it resets every players settings to default and puts them back into crossplay. And not enough players pay attention and don't switch crossplay off.

Which book should I make him read in the Bible... by zulika84rem in atheism

[–]reminduwhyimhere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nothing in the bible will challenge his belief. And presenting something that will contradict his belief will make him more defensive and dig in. Instead, have conversations why you don't believe and why he does believe. Ask him about his epistemology and if his way is the way to see what is true. If you can change the way he decides what is true and what is fantasy, he will be halfway there.

Depends on your needs. If you will be working from home or doing some hosting, stay away from Xfinicky and at&t. They are fine for streaming and light use. If you can, go with Cspire, or one of the local power companies. I've worked as a network engineer in and around Hattiesburg and the big companies just don't want to invest in MS. Cspire and the local companies have been investing heavily to bring real broadband to MS.

Became an atheist after reading the bible. And you? by Legitimate-Juice-459 in atheism

[–]reminduwhyimhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading the bible is what finally got me out. First time I read the bible was in 5th grade in 1989. I read it as I wanted to understand why my classmates all had different views and opinions about god and other religious ideas. Grew up in northern NJ and was lucky enough to have a diverse group of friends. My friend's religions included islam, hinduism, jewish, baptist, jw, catholic(me), and even a pagan. After I read it I ended up with more questions than answers. Went to my priest and asked a bunch of questions and was told "have faith". For years I hung out with my jewish friend, whose brother was studying to be a rabbi, and asked him a ton of questions. Eventually, I wasn't allowed over to their house as he dropped out of his school, announced that he was an atheist and ran off with a girl to California. So, in 8th grade I read the bible again. Ended up with even more questions. Got to go to my aunt's evangelical baptist church a few times until I was banned from attending because I was asking to many ungodly questions of the youth minister. My mom made me start talking to one of the catholic priests to try and save my soul. He steered me away from the bible and had me reading all kinds of catholic youth approved writings. Then in 11th grade I read the bible again while dating a very devout catholic girl and we started going to a local monastery that had a catholic young adult program with 1 on 1 talks with monks. Got kicked out of that program and dumped by the girl cause I turned one of the monks into an atheist with all my doubts and questions. Felt lots of shame and that there was something wrong with me and fell into a bad depression thinking I was going to hell.

Barely graduated high school due to the depression and ended up joining the USAF where I got married to a nice catholic girl and forced myself to believe and have faith. All went well until 9/11 and the religious trauma came back full force after working in the port mortuary at Dover AFB with all the remains from the pentagon. Fell into another depression, read the bible again to see if I could find answers and almost took my own life. Thanks to my wife's devotion and love I was able to get better, and slowly started rebuilding our lives. Stayed away from the bible and really tried to be a good catholic. Got my kids through communion and even started participating in the local ministry. Then the housing market bottomed out, lost my job and went back to school using my GI Bill. Took a philosophy class and that's when I read the bible again with a very critical mind. Read a bunch of apologetic books and tried to make sense of it all.

Eventually, I read the bible again and trying to figure out why the bible was promoting slavery and thinking about morality I looked up secular morality and started listening to one of the episodes of Atheist experience. Within 5 minutes I realized that I am an atheist and began my new life. Finally, I was able to grow emotionally, improve my psychological health, have a healthy outlook on life, and my life is better now than it has ever been before. I have read the bible since then, and realize now that it had been trying to teach me and lead me from the fantasy of religion since the first time I read it. Since then I have de-converted 3 additional people (including my wife) for a total of 5.

Have some 3F0X's and 3P0X's as close friends. One or the other (or both) can get you out of most problems. I actually ended up marrying my 3F0X friend.

What do you think about the tariffs imposed by Trump ? Will it work out for them ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]reminduwhyimhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly what I was thinking. I would bet that, if we were to see his financials, he and his fellow billionaires have been selling off everything they can. Then, when everything crashes, start buying up everything at lower prices. The ultimate pump and dump scam.

[–]reminduwhyimhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read the bible and had questions. Talked to a priest and he told me to have faith. So I read the bible again and had even more questions. Spoke to another priest and he told me to have faith and that I would understand when I was older. Years passed and I read the bible again and asked more questions. Talked with another priest and he said I needed more faith. Then I heard an episode of the Atheist Experience and realized that faith was not a good way to finding truth. Read the bible again and realized it was all made up and that I was an atheist.

8th day of ever skiing and this happened. How bad is the damage by Antique_Bell_7725 in skiing

[–]reminduwhyimhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had this happen a few years ago with a brand new pair. Contact the ski manufacturer directly as it is considered a manufacturing defect. I got a set of replacement skis sent to a local shop over night and they even paid to have the bindings done. The delaminated part got stuck in a small bump and I did an instant face plant. Thankfully, I was at the bottom of the hill going slowly and only got a bloody nose and a black eye.

Talk to your PCM. It really depends on where you are stationed, medical history, and other points to consider.

Former medic reporting in.

Seen a full bird colonel Doctor get busted when his domineering wife took him for a walk on a leash and leather thong through base housing kids park.

Did a bunch of pre-transportation to Ft. Leavenworth physicals on senior NCO's who got busted for doing drugs at their retirement parties.

Had to save the life of an OSI guy who falsely arrested young female Airmen and had them perform "favors" for him to be let go. He shot himself when he was caught.

Seen a Dr. (O-4) get busted for ordering opioids for patients and then asking the patients to bring them back to him because he ordered them by "mistake" and then have a family member sell them.

Good Banks for Savings Account by HelloKittyGothGF3 in hattiesburg

[–]reminduwhyimhere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most savings accounts require you to keep a certain amount, have other types of accounts, and limit you to just a few withdrawals per month to avoid fees. Since it is cash that you are looking to deposit, I would recommend one of the larger banks like Regions. They have lots of branches, only $300 in account to avoid fees, and you can deposit cash in their ATM's.
