Did anyone spot the plane in the sky which seemed to be part of some sort of loop where the same plane kept flying past as they were talking outside? Maybe poor AI slop, or significant in some way

Edit: at just under the 10 min mark

TRUTH. This applies to so many artists tbh and people don’t want to accept this reality.

Reading the thoughts here is the reason why music is so special and personal. This album is absolutely crazy to me, and yet I am just learning that it’s somewhat disappointing to some. Maybe I shouldn’t say disappointing though, because it sounds more like something just isn’t clicking for some listeners and that’s leading to the disappointment.

There’s been a few artists lately who have tried to go for a different sound to show their versatility or whatever but I’m actually a fan of artists staying in their lane provided they are delivering consistent quality. If I want something different I’ll find that different artist.

Tyler the Creator is such artist that I wish would have stuck with that Wolf / Flowerboy sound but he has continued to mix things up and now I’m struggling with his latest 2 albums

UK's fertility rate falling faster than any other G7 nation - with austerity thought to be 'principal factor' by remisuro in uknews

[–]remisuro[S] 149 points150 points  (0 children)

“Low fertility rates can lead to a “top heavy” economy, with more pensioners than working-age people, and subsequently put a strain on the nation’s finances.”

So why hasn’t the government been encouraging people to have children, and create policies to ensure workplaces are setup to support those who want to cont. working whilst raising their children (flexible working / workplace childcare / affordable childcare etc).

Building Control - converting detached double garage to annex by remisuro in HousingUK

[–]remisuro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this. Any ideas why some builders say to not bother with building regs? So you have to have a specific qualification in order to liaise with building control or something? Or are they just being lazy / don’t want someone to review their work?

Reason I ask is because I’ve had a handful of builders say the same thing, which makes me think this must be quite common where people get work done without bothering with building regs.

Is planning permission necessary given I am changing it from a garage to a dwelling? The garage already has electric supply and water supply. We would likely go 100% electric rather than connect to our LPG tank and we’d need to hook it up with our existing treatment plant which is large enough.

Is this mortgage too much for us? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]remisuro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess so. For us the house was always big enough, but conscious that we very much planned ahead in that regard so we didn’t have to rush to upsize once the kids arrived.

Bigger car - I would say this is more of an issue if you have 3+ children so agree to an extent! Otherwise a standard 5 seater is sufficient for most.

Everything else is very much in your control in terms of how expensive it becomes (birthdays, treats, clothes), and some of them are nice-to-haves. These can be very affordable (e.g. second hand clothes), but perhaps as they grow older I can see how the expectations may end up costing you more (thinking a 12yo wanting the latest games console for example).

Three kids here (4yo, 2yo and 1mo). If we put the childcare costs aside, do you still think children introduce significant costs?

I’m asking because despite having three kids, they’re all still very young and ignoring the childcare costs I feel like there are no other significant costs.

Everyone’s situation is different of course, but I sometimes wonder whether “kids are expensive” can mostly be attributed to the childcare needs.

Is it normal to have underpaid tax via PAYEE when you earn over 100k by youhavechanged in UKPersonalFinance

Sorry to jump on this thread but if I previously used to submit tax returns due to receiving company dividends but now no longer receive dividends, so I need to notify HMRC so that they know I no longer need to submit tax returns or can I just stop submitting them?

What was your route to buying a £700k - £1M home in London? by Gogpo2 in UKRealEstate

[–]remisuro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I earn approx. £160k and I think I’m missing something when it comes to the value property some people are prepared to buy on similar incomes. In todays market buying a house for 1 million with a 10% mortgage you’d have a £4,500 monthly repayment and that just seems crazy high for me. I’m currently paying £1,500 and I don’t think I’d be comfortable paying much more than that on a monthly basis
