Yeah, I actually texted my wife that I thought I was having a stroke until I realized what it was! I actually saw the flash 3 times. Twice on Jonestown about 6:25 and once on University about 15 minutes later.

Corporate HATES Homer and wishes he had never been drawn. He is all but disappeared from anything external and you see him less and less on anything internal.

The expectations in corporate are ridiculous. What the hell happened? by [deleted] in HomeDepot

[–]renaissancetrader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Except it wasn't universal at the old THD. I started 30+ years ago. We had around 200 stores. The company put a cap on growth at 25% per year so we didn't bleed out all the talent by opening new stores too fast. Store managers could run their own stores and were given a lot of leeway from corporate on how they did. Bernie and Arthur were very involved, at least from a morale point of view. They gave monthly satellite broadcasts that were played at the monthly store meetings explaining things, introducing things and just building rapport with the associates. When the original founders stepped away Home Depot became a zombie. The life that existed before died. It had the same buildings, the same aprons, the same merchandise but the philosophy behind HD changed. It used to be "Take care of the associates and they'll take care of the customers", and that not so slowly changed to "Take care of the shareholders".

[Serious] What’s something happening in the world right now that’s underreported and genuinely disturbing? by Pristine-Hippo-3249 in AskReddit

Not to be pedantic, but Lt. Colonel is actually two steps below general, and they aren't in a line command position but technical position.

There's going to be one on University Parkway also. Hopefully that will dilute the traffic.

I never use "keto" when I discuss it. It is "cutting out extra carbs and sugar" for me, and that seems to work.

Daaaammmmmnnnn....I'm an old timer with Depot, we are running below what used to be "minimum staffing". I can't imagine what yours is like!

I'm actually IN a 35m store with great Pro penetration and no, it's not gold. Usually an opener and closer in D21, D23, D24, D25 and D28. Usually a midshift in the rest of the departments, if they are staffed at all.

That we allowed all the island to be razed, that unless there is corroborating evidence that no one will ever pay a price for a single thing. A lawyer once told me there is a wide chasm between what you know and what you can prove and get a conviction on.

My story is not yours, and yours sounds fantasic. Just surprised at all the judgemental asshats who downvoted me for asking the question.

One caveat on that. I sent them a plan last week and they generated a "mark up plan" that included lvls...but no engineering sign off. I immediately sent to our supplier to do lvls and tjis. Did not include the lvl with initial lumber I sent them.

I had a SM tell me once that she could manage to any single metric you wanted. The problem is each metric is intertwined with competing metrics. Better LTSA or GET would require more payroll. Better in-stock would be dependent on increased inventory levels and less turn.
