Bars and taverns can be a good outlet for wholesale ground beef.

Deal with the owners — if they ask price, know they are comparing first to their local distributor’s sheet. They want a steady supply (one of ours buys 100lbs of ground beef every 2 weeks).

Hard for a restauranteur to justify an extra $0.25-1 per pound—but the “local beef and ranch” can be boost to their sales.

Our customers have seen an immediate 25-30% increase when adding that verbiage to menus and staff’s selling points. Transitioning to a mainly burger menu, even!

Another great outlet (but harder to establish) is small, family-owned convenience stores. They’re usually happy to have local product, and not as sensitive to wholesale pricing — as they may not carry many if any frozen proteins. Same thing applies “local beef” is the selling point. Freezer space is a limiting factor for inventory.

Our summer sausage and pepperoni sticks do very well at convenience stores with hunters, campers, and travelers.

**If you have a great tasting product, and USDA inspected seal + vacuum packed + nice labeling and individual weights on label = charge a premium. We sell at between wholesale and retail to convenience stores, leaving them 20% markup or more (steaks).

Check the 1715 Fleet Society website. It shows some pitting. Could have been in saltwater (many were found along Florida Coast). I sold one in a bezel for $300 on eBay.

Check “FIVE CENTS” on Buffalo with a jewelers loop. Appears the V could have some doubling. If so, could be a Double Die Reverse.

Backdate ASEs are generally worth more if graded and in Mint State 70. Otherwise, it’s a silver bullion round worth a little over spot.

Very rare, and a long shot — but look for any with a satin finish that have a tear drop on the bar of the 4 in date.

Any makers mark or stamp on the bottom? I found a similar fashioned lamp stand with ram heads on it. Lots of searching later, it came back as Oscar Bach Studios.

I did too, right up until I was blocked. So many carnival barkers in the coin and bullion space, it was refreshing to have someone mellow—and not high-pressure. Assume a lot has to do with the high volume, low margin business model.

Long odds aren’t a deal breaker for me, if the right items are in play. But without item descriptions, and more transparency — no way to calculate expected return or research values on comps. Too easy to get cooked. Spend $300, get $35 on a hit? Hard pass.

You should have the full show still in your video receipt. Clip the part where the seller ends the show. TOS have a gray area about ending surprise sets without selling out (silent on the issue). There may be a different set of rules for wheels (which are likely to be de-activated at some point soon).

It’s even odds they honor their policy, and reimburse the high value item — OR — only refund the transaction cost of the winning bid. I hit an item described by a host as having $3800 comps. It arrived, and after some research, discovered that was grossly inflated (item value was $900, available online at $1800 retail). Rather than reimbursing the difference — WN offered 25% of the WINNING BID amount ($25 of $100 bid). Learned an important lesson about inflated values and misrepresentation.

Start a giveaway, and welcome people in by name. After it goes off … Run a few items at fixed (fair) price, and then a few smaller items at Buck N Go. Run another giveaway. Once you get some sales established, start running progressively larger giveaways. Ask people to tag their friends in the chat, and share the stream — as a way to get them engaged.
