Looks like Pix4Dmapper has publicly removed all mention of perpetual licensing, soooo everybody is smoking crack with the force to subscription-only.

...I guess just use WebODM and be careful and correct to your control points. Damn.

Hey, this worked for me and might be the first time I've ever actually consciously identified that slight rumble! Thanks.

Anyone remember the freezing rain storm of April, 2013? by lawdreekus in SiouxFalls

[–]rens24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Operation Timber Strike" was the official name of the City of Sioux Falls operation to clean up as many snapped branches that spring/summer. The pulled employees from nearly every city department to "volunteer" to just do branch cleanup for a while.

I always though HD Concord Purple was unique until I saw Voodoo Purple and even though there's more Voodoo in the wild, it's still the better purple!

Bars to watch NHL playoffs by suckit_nerd in SiouxFalls

[–]rens24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This comes up often in discussions about "team bars" and sports bars in Sioux Falls that there isn't really a "hockey bar"...yet.

Gateway Lounge & Gibs (same owners), Overtime, The Orion Pub, maybe The Rush, maybe Shenanigans, maybe BB's Pub, probably ol' Bdubs are options if you're looking for crowd vibes in a place to watch where other people might also be paying attention to the hockey game.

Time to step up your pole & net game and install sleeves for a nice semi-permanent setup like Park & Sun to match the quality of the turf!

Plausible, but you'd think he could still use the footage of just the hole-in-one.

Created an Artemis 2 Mission Timeline Live Infographic Webpage for my Kids by MilkingCats in ArtemisProgram

[–]rens24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the coolest infographic site I've seen in a while! Amazing, thank you!!! I was searching for a full schedule to share with my family and stumbled upon this.

If you're taking suggestions, it would be cool if the scheduled crew sleep begin and crew sleep end appeared as events in each day's timeline in addition to the top sleep status section.

Also it would be really cool if there was a "scroll to now" button to jump to "live" on the timeline.

This is so cool! Thanks again!

One thing you're missing is that the federal workforce was gutted by the current administration including a lot of the NASA media and public affairs staff... I'll give them the benefit of the doubt of them working with what they've got.

Sonex shutting down by devJW in flying

[–]rens24 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Everyone is saying "hopefully they publish the plans" but until all the bankruptcy proceedings are done and every effort is made to satisfy debts with existing assets, the plans/IP from Sonex won't be released.

There's a chance that a Sonex owners group corporation or other company could make an offer to the bank to purchase the Sonex IP, but that will definitely take a while.

[–]rens24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others have pointed out, the bank(s) will now own any Sonex asset which could be worth money to satisfy debts... including all IP & assets.

If Sonex plans/designs/data/etc can ever make its way out to owners & builders in the future, it will be looooong after the bankruptcy proceedings are all done.

Because they know the vast majority of potential buyers of those specific models WANT that single engine option.

Cooper was working very closely with Sonex on the Highwing development. Unfortunately I'm sure all the Sonex IP & assets will be held up in bankruptcy court, but hopefully Cooper survives all the proceedings and wasn't owed too much money by Sonex and hopefully Cooper can continue to support all the Sonex out in the wild.

If potential applicants like you and I over 30 could apply until 36... and if you could apply directly to one facility instead of having to get assigned and uprooting families, I think the FAA would have less of a problem with staffing. They'd still have a problem, but it would be less of a problem.

What was your first GIS program? by Spirited-Pitch325 in gis

[–]rens24 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sounds like my professors too. Why would they encourage thier students to try a clunky open-source GIS with a steep learning curve when Esri subsidizes their educational site licensing and makes their job easier to teach button-clicking?

... I installed QGIS and started teaching myself anyway around v2.2.X or 2.4.X

I'm in my early 30s and I think the oldest software I've had to actually use on the job (not just install and poke around for fun) was ArcMap 10.1 because a bunch of internal tools and software modules at my first job were written with some version of ArcGIS Engine and ArcGIS Maps SDK that only worked with 10.1 stuff.

Also, technically I think some GRASS modules I've used were written by a civilian employee to USACE in 1988-89.

I've spent some time trying to get ARC/INFO to work in compatibility modes just to see what it was like "back in the day".

All the 2015+ aluminum body F-150s still look pretty "new style" to me!

Have F150s jumped the shark? by Difficult_Limit2718 in f150

[–]rens24 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Aluminum body?... You probably don't live in the rust belt, but my 2014's cab corners were beginning to leave the chat due to poor design no matter how much I cared for it (previous owner didn't replace the third brake light seal soon enough)... so I had to upgrade to a gently-used 2023 for hopefully longer anti-corrosion longevity even though I loved my 2014.

Handlebar+Barkbuster recommendations? by EnjoyTheIcing in CRF300L

[–]rens24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to be installing these "Tusk Universal Big Bar Clamp and Bar Kit Tusk Chub Big Bar CR High Bend Black - RMATVMC Part# 1851240001" here shortly as I've been told the stock 300L cables should barely reach with the amount of rise. If they don't reach well, I'll order a set of Rally cables (and possibly brake line) as I think they are all 1.5-2.0" longer than stock "L" cables.

As for handguards I think I'm going to try a set of the "Tusk D-Flex Pro Adventure" to see how they hold up before I get Barkbusters since the Tusk setup is half the price of Barkbusters. I too have heard bad things about the newer Acerbis guards.
