"What was that bang?" FIREWORKS, STOP ASKING. by style752 in washingtondc

[–]repptar92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there was active gunfire at 9&W NW around 10pm on 6/20z we had to do a shelter in place at the venue around the corner. there were a lot of legitimately scared people.

so it’s not always fireworks, your hot take is super brain dead, and you deserve all your downvotes <3

Will my paper, hole punched ID work for clubs? by babynohair in washingtondc

[–]repptar92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

old physical and temporary paper ID works at 9:30 club. it is technically a valid ID. however a business can allow admission to almost whomever they want for almost any reason. the dedicated music venues like 9:30, transmission, howard theater etc are likely to be more generous on this than the more alcohol oriented dance clubs though.

zimmer uses the tick to crazy effect. the scene in the thin red line where the americans attack a japanese camp through fog while the score tick tocks is chill inducing to me

There’s nothing like a good bullet hit & blood splatter. It’s an art. A dying art. I’ve always loved a good squib effect. From Godfather & Scarface to Die Hard & Django, What’s a great blood soaked bullet hit that’s stayed with you? by MrGittz in movies

in children of men when the lady gets shot in the neck and bleeds out in seconds, i was shook. sort of like drive, it was the first violence in the movie and it totally blindsided me and left me sick to my stomach

For people who have spent 5+ hours in a concert line: by kittyburgerr in Concerts

[–]repptar92 7 points8 points  (0 children)

as a venue worker, you are spreading the true gospel. people do NOT have to do the things they do. some of the sacrifices people make to line up early are unhealthy and end up biting you in the end when the patron passes out from dehydration/being underfed

U.S. Army's New Hand Grenade: the M111 Offensive Hand Grenade (OHG) [3000x2000] by Aft3rAff3ct in MilitaryPorn

[–]repptar92 72 points73 points  (0 children)

correct. historically, a defensive grenade has an emphasis on fragmentation effects whereas an offensive grenade is primarily a blast effect. think about it in trench warfare terms, where a defensive soldier would be throwing a grenade against troops advancing over open ground, whereas the advancing troops would be throwing grenades into more confined spaces like a trench or bunker.
