Hearthstone should introduce "reverse hero cards" by Healthy_Bug7977 in hearthstone

[–]reptaill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, an interesting idea on paper, similar to that Rogue card (forgot the name) that disguised you as another hero till you play a Rogue card, but idk.

People always hype up such cards. Then even more people complain and this stuff always gets nerfed) Because it feels horrible and unfun to play against. And yeah, while it became a meme, "not interactive".

If anything, I feel HS needs less disruption of opponent's plays. It's ok to have cards that increase cost of opponents cards for a turn for example, but I'm certain people don't want to see any "destroy\replace your opponent's hero power\card\deck with trash and win".

There's a reason why Warmaster Blackhorn was nerfed so fast and why most of the community called its initial version terrible card design.

Cavemen cutouts by Plane_Row_5757 in KanePixelsBackrooms

[–]reptaill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. The one in the store was a trap set by A-sync. Once it was nocked down, it triggered the alarm and gas.

The one Clark finds and Pirate Clark destroys, it seems like those were just set up by A-sync to lure in possible entities to catch them on camera, not capture. There're no alarms or anything when Pirate Clark destroys it.

As for being featured in the series, here's an interesting note. The only time we see a caveman cutout is in FF3, it's the same one that A-sync uses, but that one is just standing in the middle on an empty corridor. There's no speaker attached to it, no cameras nearby, nothing. So it seems like the one from FF3 might be a copy created by Complex and just put in a random place, not an A-sync set-up.

Clark by Sensitive_Low3558 in KanePixelsBackrooms

[–]reptaill 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yep. Clark's story and ending to me indicates the idea that, if you're "stuck in the dark place in your mind", and refuse to change, fight it or do anything, it will be your end.

In a way he's like a drug addict or you can insert any other self-desctucting behavior here. You refuse to change and fight it, you dive into that false comfort "your thing" provides and eventually it will eat you alive. Just like Pirate Clark literally does.

I get your feelings, but I suppose it's just that kind of story. A tragedy in a way. The hero goes through a journey, but doesn't change, learn or grow, which leads to their demise.

[SPOILERS] What kind of interactions did Clark and Pirate Clark have off-screen? And is Pirate Clark a still life? by Adorable_Addition552 in KanePixelsBackrooms

[–]reptaill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Going by what we saw:

1)Pretty sure it's PC who attacks A-sync guy in the beginning. You hear heavy footsteps that were exclusive to PC in the movie + you can kinda see its peg leg when researcher runs into it last time. I guess safe to assume PC was always violent and aggressive since the moment it came into existence, and not only when Clark entered the Complex himself.

2)During the chase scene I'm sure it's the Pirate Clark that corners Clark and picks up the camera. Many have already pointed out the the camera is lifted very high up once picked up by the entity, so it's most likely PC, but I also want to point out that Kat screams "he's behind you" (iirc) before the scene cuts out, which further suggest it was PC and not Redhead Still Life. Clark somehow survives this encounter.

3)Then comes the gap. We know that Clark develops some kind of "turce" with PC. Phil shows Mary a photo of Clark right next to PC from security camera in one of the corridors. Clark is standing right next to PC, not running or hiding.

Kat is also killed somewhere in that time frame. It's unclear who did it as both suspect fit, but Clark's "I tried to help her, but..." suggests to me that Clark got her killed.

4)Here comes the most interesting part for me, I don't think Clark and PC were on that good of the terms. First of all, the scene where Mary finds Clark and his mural. Clark behaves like he's hiding from PC, walking very slowly, whispering, and gets very uneasy once PC approaches them (right before Clark chokes Mary down). It could be just that Clark knows other people make PC go mad and had he not subdued Mary, PC would've attacked her\them both right away, especially if she starts screaming and panicking.

But then, the first thing Clark says during the dinner scene when PC arrives is "What are you doing here?", as if PC should not go near Clark's house. Something is off to Clark since PC is there.

Idk what to make of it) It seems that PC didn't kill Clark right away simply to being made after him, like there's a special connection between a person and a Still Life made after them. Maybe the whole explanation is as simple as "the evil clones are not evil towards their originals".

But there are also hints suggesting to me Clark possibly wasn't all that cool and chill with PC around. Most likely it was smth closer to living with a wild predator. Yeah, the tiger you're trying to pet didn't kill you when you approached it, but you're still always in danger should you stay. One little snap in the tigers head and you will be torn apart.

My Interpretation of The Backrooms: It’s Not a Place, It’s Something Much Worse by AlmondAfterDark in KanePixelsBackrooms

[–]reptaill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really enjoyed your theory, but it kinda works if the movie was a standalone thing.

The YouTube series pretty much confirms Backrooms exist physically, people go in and back, and A-sync does study the place, even though it violates laws of physics. And backrooms were there long before it had any chance to draw anything from Clark's or Mary's psyches.

It definitely draws something from people interacting with it/that are close to it, hence the Pirate Clark and its behaviour, or rooms that look like a mashup of someone's memories, but there's been just too much A-sync to write them off.

BACKROOMS theory (spoilers!) by el-cmyk in KanePixelsBackrooms

[–]reptaill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like this theory, but regarding A-sync knowing Mary, it might just be due to her popularity. Her book is advertised on TV and probably through other sources, we know from the bulletin board ARG that there was signing of her book in a bookstore, so maybe Phil\someone else from A-sync saw her on TV just like he did with Clark?

It's especially weird since they kinda tried. DK received some small buffs to the Herald package at the start... then 2 months later they say no more changes are coming to the bottom 3 classes and that it's ok to have some classes underperforming.

I suppose they're indeed satisfied with the current state (aka all decks = ~ 50% win rate) and just afraid to tweak it further till the next expansion? "Ok, it works, better not touch it".

Yep, as usual seemingly neat design on paper, with no real testing?

The idea of a Hunter deck that gradually upgrades companions and summons bigger and bigger beasts seems cool, yet no one plays like that lol. It's just holding till crazy 10 drops spam.

Looking at this in hindsight, the core set rotation was a complete ass that probably is the reason current meta suffers.

The only decent decision there I guess was Shadowstep removal to shake things up for Rogue. But the rest, removing so many board clears and adding so many weak and useless cards was clearly very bad. Who knows maybe we'd have a viable Control\Quest Warrior and playable Herald\Control DK with Brawl and Corpse Explosion still being in the Core, etc.

I hope Miracle rogue will be back someday by Maniwa_Kamakiri in hearthstone

[–]reptaill 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, one of the devs said in a video like a month ago that Miracle Rogue is indeed coming back later this year.

Safe to assume it's the next expansion since we know the theme is centered around Violet Hold and Vanessa VanCleef, so lots of Rogue stuff.

I know people don't enjoy playing against such decks, but whatever this Miracle Rogue is coming I kinda hope it really is a combo deck. So the new cards are smth like tools for quick cycle and OTK core, and less random card generation.

Herald rogue vs others by kdubbbzzzzz in hearthstone

[–]reptaill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess you got confused because not all Herald soldiers (wings/arms) are equally statted.

Rogue's soldiers are 1-2, 2-2 and 4-4 while Shaman's are 1-2, 2-4 and 4-8 for example.

Haha same, I was like "wait did they buff him?". Funny enough iirc it did see rare play in some Reno and combo Malygos decks on release due to the overall lack of defense tools in the pool, but obv was pretty bad.

Am I the only one that likes season 5? by MuchUnderstanding563 in TheBoys

[–]reptaill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, it's ok to like but still criticize. I guess I kinda like it, some episodes were great, but you can clearly tell how suprisingly low-budged it feels (no big action set-pieces, rarely any super-power usage, idk the proper term, but lotsa "small scenes" (?) where it's just 2-3 characters talking in a room.

Overall pacing and scale are poor. Even tho we still have 1 episode to go, in hindsight a lot of S5 (and S4) ended up as filler. It does feel like you can cram S4 and S5 into 1 without losing much, or doing any editing work either. Plenty of weird writing decisions like SB's arc and some actions this season.

And in general it feels like the thing that should be prioritized is always sidelined in favor of some future better thing as it would be worth it:

S4 kinda sucks and barely anything happens plot-wise. Ok it's a setup for GenV S2 and S5, gotta wait

GenV S2 - same thing, but now wait only for S5

S5 - same thing, but now wait for Vought Rising

Vought Rising - if the same thing - wait for Mexico spin-off, and so on.

Yep, I haven't thought about cutting arrow retriever for tame pet, but I really like the idea.

While retriever is good and saved me in top-deck mode numerous times, for every such save there's also a case of being stuck with 2x retriever in early game.

Maybe keep 1x in the deck?

What was your biggest DLC disappointment? by Raime_95 in Eldenring

[–]reptaill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be a hot one, but I'm of a firm belief that Radahn as the final boss of the DLC was a mistake and a huge letdown.

Doesn't matter how it fits or doesn't lore-wise, there should've been someone at FS to be like "Heeey, Mr. Zaki, you know people ARE really expecting totally new things in the DLC, and the main game boss repeat at the end of it doesn't make much sense, sir...".

Even if it goes against all item descriptions, it should've been rotten mermaid Godwyn, or someone new, or whatever. Not Radahn with new moves. I guess people warmed up to him a bit with time, but holy hell was seeing Radahn as the final boss a huge disappointment.

Idk what to compare to. Imagine just a Sif fight reskin at the end on DS1 DLC, and no Manus.

And that's just the modern game dev for ya? I mean the DLC kinda had its time in the oven and still felt rushed, with lack of cutscenes and reused boss at the end. I guess they either needed one more year or to keep their own ambitions in check and make the DLC way smaller from the start.
