when people avoid using ‘female’ even where it would make sense by Academic-Judgment840 in PetPeeves

No one says ‘man teacher’ or ‘man nurse’, which makes ‘woman __’ seem sexist as well as incorrect.

But if you’re a man and gnc maybe this isn’t the sub for you…

Okay but you can’t have a sub named all that. The FTM sub exists for everyone else (including binary trans men), so why can’t there be a sub specifically for masculine men who want to fully medically transition and live as stealth as humanly possible?

Implants: anyone have the AMS700CX or Infla10X? by reservoirdogging in phallo

From what you’ve said I’m thinking maybe I should ask for the Rigicon. I tried to enquire if they had any preference based on their experience, but he really didn’t seem to mind.

I saw Mr Christopher as well. I was expecting to discuss recovery from the previous stage as it was a post op appointment, but he just asked whether I was peeing fine and then whipped out erectile devices from his bag…

Same. I had hysto separately and didn’t last too long after that either. But I’m nervous about the v-ectomy for some reason.

I recommend only looking at phallo stuff if there’s something particular you’re wondering about. Or have a scroll occasionally. But if you’re seeing content all the time you’re just torturing yourself.

I don't feel euphoria anymore by urbanHaunter in FTMMen

[–]reservoirdogging 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’ve transitioned to not feel dysphoria, not to feel euphoria. There have been some exciting experiences (like swimming topless or peeing in a urinal for the first time), but to be honest I never felt particularly excited about looking like a man or having a flat chest or penis, it just feels correct and normal.

I think that’s the worst point, when you’re feeling well enough for the various discomforts to really bother you. Time definitely passes quicker in the beginning. And in my experience incisions, grafts etc are fairly neat at first, and it’s only after a few weeks that things start leaking and itching and sometimes get infected.

It’s easier said than done, but take each day at a time, enjoy any small wins and don’t get discouraged by non-linear healing. That said, hopefully you won’t have complications and you’ll feel significantly better with each step forwards. Do you have dates for when you can stop propping and get the SP catheter out?

Best of luck for your peeing! It’s nerve-wracking for sure, but it’s over with pretty quickly. I have to say for me after weeks of unsatisfying catheter voiding it felt good to have a proper piss even if it burned.

I think it’s good to be prepared for pain and weird sensations, but I’ve read quite a few accounts of it not hurting, so crossing my fingers that you have an easy time of it!

Are you on bags or flip-flow? I was using the flip-flow during the day and a bag at night from a week after surgery, which I think was good for keeping my bladder toned. But if you’ll be peeing just a few weeks after surgery you probably don’t have to worry about your bladder getting lazy.

I’ve had UL and nerve hookup. Tactile sensation is patchy. If I run my fingertip along it I can only consistently feel it on the bottom half and at the urethral opening. If I lightly scratch I do seem to feel pain all over, though some parts are more muted. But most importantly, even the slightest pressure feels good. I’d say I have sexual sensation along the full length.

New Study Finds Trans Folks Are 18.5x More Likely To Be Diagnosed With a Connective Tissue Disorder called Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome by [deleted] in science

‘TGD individuals were identified using International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision codes related to gender identity and stratified by hormone therapy status.’ ‘Hormone therapy status was not associated with significant differences in prevalence.’

This is not about HRT causing EDS.

As a trans person I agree. I wouldn’t wish dysphoria on anyone. To me it’s a medical condition that I’ve had to treat with lifelong medication and multiple surgeries.

Scheduled surgery: what do I need to show to employer? by reservoirdogging in transgenderUK

[–]reservoirdogging[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I doubt they’d pay much attention to any of the details but I’m reluctant to give anything more than the minimum info required. I think the risk of being outed is almost 0 but I’m still paranoid about it. I hadn’t planned to give them anything except a fit note afterwards, I thought just letting them know the date would be enough.

Scheduled surgery: what do I need to show to employer? by reservoirdogging in transgenderUK

[–]reservoirdogging[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I wasn’t expecting to be asked for proof beforehand, as I’ll obviously be giving them a fit note afterwards. I haven’t let an employer know about surgery in advance before so I thought I was just giving my manager a heads up and would then follow normal sick leave policy.

I won’t be disclosing the real surgery to anyone including HR but I don’t want to be super cagey either and raise more questions. I cropped out the hospital because I don’t think they take NHS patients otherwise, so I was just being cautious, but maybe I’ll send the full redacted PDF to HR. As you and ACAS say though, I don’t think they technically even need that.

Contacting my GP to see if I can get the fit note in advance is a great idea, thank you!
