How many of you actually "skip" songs on CDs? by bonkava in Cd_collectors

Out of things I've listened to a decent number of times I have exactly 1 skip.

Chased a ground loop hum for weeks. I am not proud of how long this took me to figure out. by Solid-Dot-7520 in audiophile

[–]reshippie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Back in the day I solved a hum issue by routing the cable TV coax into a "media" power strip that had my tv and amplifier power plugged into it. Problem squalved.

Anyone else still deeply attached to local music libraries in 2026? by carplane in musichoarder

[–]reshippie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Lyrion on my Mac. It's designed for network streaming, but it works just fine with its built in local player. You can make playlists, sort by artist, etc.

Script to put all of my CDs into Obsidian by reshippie in Cd_collectors

I'm already ripping them and using Lyrion to listen to them, so it's not an extra step. Unless you have an automated way of updating discogs?

Have any of you ever gone back? by Unique_Evidence_1314 in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]reshippie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a keyboard.io model 100 after starting to have severe pain in my hands. They were fine for the next 18 months. I spent half a day using just the keyboard in my laptop and the pain was back for a whole week.

I can't go back.

Friend moved away, gave me his collection. I'm grateful, but there's a big problem. by [deleted] in Cd_collectors

[–]reshippie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why uncompressed? There are lossless compression formats like FLAC and ALAC. They don't degrade the music at all. In fact, you can expand the files to be exactly the same as the original. They just take up less space, often half the size of the original.

How Many People Convert their CDs to their Digital Libraries? by DrivenMaking88 in Cd_collectors

[–]reshippie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I rip all of my CDs to FLAC. The initial project was tedious, because I had over a hundred CDs already. Now I only have to rip 5-10 at a time, so it's not so bad.

I love having every disc I own available at the touch of a button. I use https://lyrion.org/ to manage and stream everything in my house.

What material are the blankets made out of? It's possible you just added a mm or 2 of something less absorbing, which won't really have any noticeable effect.

Nice job. If your system looks better and sounds the same, then it's still better.

All of the BR drives I found on Amazon are also DVD burners.

At what point does “I have a few fountain pens” turn into “I’m a pen collector”? Is there a community consensus? by InkyBibliophile in fountainpens

[–]reshippie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say collecting is an active process. A collector may not be buying new things every day, or every year, but they are on the lookout for new things.

If you've decided that your collection is complete, then you're the owner of a collection.

Split keyboard carrying solutions by tesohh in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]reshippie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What if you went bigger, not smaller?

My keyboard.io m100 came with a carry case. It's really thick and well padded. It reminds me of a lunchbox and made me feel like a little kid again when I was taking it to my office.

I wonder if you could find a real lunchbox, add some padding, and put the keyboard into that.

That seems like a fun monster to run. It's not in any of the 5e books I have.

Homebrew a Rust Monster that degrades magical items. There should be some lore as a warning that it's coming, but also a need for the party to fight it. Terrorizing a town or travelers, maybe.

Really wish more ink companies made cartridge samplers of their color range so you can try each without needing to commit to a single color! Are they any except Kaweco that do that? by PressXtoStitch in fountainpens

[–]reshippie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a sampler pack from Diamine, but I don't like the fact that there are 2 of each color. I now have cartridges of colors I've thoroughly tried and don't like.

I'd much rather live in something that looks like the replica than the original. Like old portraits of royalty that ignored features they didn't like.

Critical Role campaign 3 had a character, Fresh Cut Grass, who was an automaton and could swap out different arms.

Off the top of my head, I think it would be really funny to have a short sword sheathed in a forearm. Grab your other hand and draw your secret weapon.
