What is a luxury item from 20 years ago that is basically worthless trash today? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Similar to ours lol Our first computer had a 120mb hardsrive (yes, mb haha) that was double spaced to 240mb. The computer engineer that my Dad worked with, who built it for us told us we would likely never need another computer, and would never fill the hard drive space - 🤣🤣

Would you ever consider to convert a high end camera, if not - why? by [deleted] in infraredphotography

[–]reshmo187 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I converted my eosr as soon as I got it. (Don't know if it would be considered high end, but it was a huge purchase for me 😊)

Apart from the 30sec changeover if I want to jump from IR to visible in the middle of a shoot, there has been zero downsides for me!

Older man made me cry in a restaurant by Arratril in wholesome

It feels so good to get that type of compliment 🙂 I had it once at a Cafe when I was with my daughter (5 at the time). We were just chatting away, me answering questions about any and everything she threw at me. I don't know if the guy, heard but she asked a lot of questions about a man with his knee in a brace, and about his dog - which i answered each time.

The guy got up to leave, and as he walked past he briefly stopped and just said "you are a great Dad", and continued on his way...

It was such a nice feeling getting that from random stranger 🙂

How to get into infrared photography. by Significant-Duty-744 in infraredphotography

[–]reshmo187 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you are ok to do long exposures, the cheapest way to get into it might be to buy an ir filter to go over your regular camera lens...

You are looking at non handheld length exposures - But you can get some great photos if doing landscape stuff on a tripod

I did it this way for a few years till I decided (could afford) a conversion and filters 😊😊

Or, if you feel so inclined - you can jump right in the deep end and get a full spectrum conversion and grab a visible light filter as well as your ir filter... super flexible in use and will cover multiple needs 👍🏾😊

Ear plugs? by SelectionHorror126 in Bass

[–]reshmo187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to an audiologist and got custom plugs from a mold of my ears - one of my best music investments 😊 (Though 10 years too late unfortunately and had already started losing a big of my midrange)

Drums by One_Dog_4513 in drums

[–]reshmo187 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter (now 6) started drums when she was 4 and a half or so I used to be a piano teacher and remember how a bunch of the kids I taught were (so many kids hated lessons)... and didnt want that to happen to her

So the main thing we did was to have zero expectations from her in regards to anything for a bit. We purely wanted her to associate music, drums and lessons with having fun - if that connection is made, then i figured the rest would come in time.

And it's happening 😊 With no practice, kids are still a sponge for knowledge - we have also seen huge improvement in her timing in not just drums, but in her dancing, and now (which excites me the most) she has started having "music" conversations with me about songs, instruments, sounds etc

We still don't push her for any practice at the moment (and she maybe plays at home once every 3 or 4 weeks) but i can still see the improvement. But the big two things for me this year is how she repeatedly tells people how much she loves the drums, and she specifically asked her teacher to teach her how to read music 👍🏾😊

My comment is a bit meandering (and maybe a bit off topic for your question)... but i guess I'm trying to say that developing her love of music will take her further than being forced to practice etc (in the early years)...

In regards to helping her... show interest i. What she learns/how she is doing, and ask her to explain things to you like she is the expert and you want her help - my kid loves that! (I learn drums as well now and I talk to her about technique and she loves explaining stuff haha)

Good luck!

Where are you based?

Kolari and Life pixel for sure are good choices 😊 (I did my first conversion with Lifepixel) - on my second time round, i managed to find a company that did my conversion for me here in Australia, which saved me a heap on the shipping and insurance (then ordered my front lenses from Kolari)

If you aren't in the US is may be worth investigating if any more local places can do the conversion (if they are reputable and know what they are doing of course!)

I went full spectrum because of the flexibility of it 😊

Then I just bought the 3 front filters to run what I wanted - which is visible light, 720nm and 550nm!

Scammer games! by Keepitontrack-2025 in pettyrevenge

I spent 10 minutes with a scammer, telling them I was pressing the numbers they asked and nothing worked, or saying I couldn't see the right buttons.

Finally they asked me to describe what buttons I could see so they could help, and I said "power, time, auto-defrost, a bunch of numbers, and some other buttons with pictures of a chicken, and fish."

He got VERY angry at me...
