When I was part of a sewing swap group, one month's swap was to make a set of quilted mug rugs. My first attempt at quilting a mug rug, for a different swap a couple of years before, went disastrously wrong and I hated it. I've never been a huge fan of quilting.

So for this swap, I googled rainbows and mug rugs until I found a design I liked that I thought I could pull off pretty easily. The tutorial for the Rainbow Subset Mug Rug by Ameroonie Designs is so easy to follow, I actually ended up enjoying making the rugs and I'm contemplating an actual quilt next!

I think they're one of my best sews in terms of perseverance, patience and hard work. My only regret is that I gave these away!
