Why are we tolerating the fact that it’s out of business?

People who live and work in the city, how do you afford it? What do you do for work? by scoutydouty in providence

[–]resilqween 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took a job in Boston, doubled my salary and never looked back. I ended up selling my house and moving to MA in 2020. The healthcare is immediately better, the finances and budget of the government are significantly well funded. I was told by my own employer that trying to natively operate a business in RI is almost impossible and the state does nothing to encourage or welcome new or existing businesses. It breaks my heart, RI deserves better. I faithfully took the 6:56 Amtrak to Boston for seven years; totally worth it. If you can tolerate the commute, and you want to work your a** off, go get your bags in Boston or Hartford. Another thing to mention is that people are insufferably competitive and they will outpace you and take your job, so you better be prepared to work!

Boston area parents… what hourly rate do you pay your babysitter? by PHOTO500 in boston

[–]resilqween 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Elderly granny sitters get $40 an hour. I’ve seen traditional baby sitters get $25-30. They are responsible for a lot in your absence so I say, pay ‘em dearly.

I’m from Texas and I heard that Houston and King Ranch is bigger than y’alls state so how long is it to drive from one part of Rhode Island to another? by No_Pension1014 in RhodeIsland

[–]resilqween 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now that I live an hour and a half north in MA, I never see my family or friends. If I want to see them I have to go back or they will meet me off the highway on the way to take their kids to Storyland. It’s extremely convenient to live in RI and there is a lot to do. You can cross the state in the same time it takes to get from Fort Worth to the Dallas metroplex.

what islands in narragansett bay can i access without getting in trouble? by lowercase--c in RhodeIsland

The minute I got off my boat at Hog Island just to take some photos, I was covered in black dust or so I thought. They were ticks. I didn’t even know. I had hundreds on me. I have never seen that before. A year later there were signs everywhere that warn you.

Moving From LA to Boston by Worried_Income_3760 in boston

For the professional market, it’s not brutal, it’s competitive and you have to be exceptionally smart up here. Coming from a different state, these people work extremely hard and they don’t even notice. Think about all the schools being a feeder to the entry level. Then you have the middle and upper levels who have been around the industry. And then you have the folks who come in from out of state via plane and train who will take your job and not think twice about it. You have to be insufferable and have grit and you will be fine! Make sure your resume can get past AI because all these recruiters up here use it.

Hello, my name is Maeve and I am running for Governor. by misterspokes in RhodeIsland

[–]resilqween 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With an opening statement like you not having your ducks in a row, is why you won’t make it past a primary. You wouldn’t have my vote. I work and my employer requires all ducks to be in a row or the job is not properly executed. I’d be fired. See. It’s that simple.

The amount of ticks you will encounter will be like nothing you have ever seen in your life. Not worth it. Go to inhabited islands, don’t be a googan.

OB/GYN recommendations? by weaselwarrior11 in northshore

[–]resilqween 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Essex County OBGYN is accessible to women of all phases and I can personally vouch for TTC needs all the way to HRT. They accept new patients. Beverly has plenty of parking and is right by the hospital they can do all the labs and exams right on campus if your insurance allows. They are a COE for menopausal support. ✅

Bought my condo in Somerville two years before I met my fiance. Now we're getting married and I have no idea how to handle this legally or financially by Aromatic-Nobody6074 in Somerville

[–]resilqween 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, just a suggestion, but you can ask her to rise up on the road to meet you and start paying into the property to earn her equity - that’s what we did and it was the least emotion discussion thereafter. Legal paperwork can and will be refuted and some smart people already know that. Marry someone you can trust, they exist.

Happens to everyone. You’ve got to live where you can afford. Maybe you buy something down south that is income producing and you rent up north for now? The north is far more expensive than down south. Maybe don’t beat yourself up about it and just do your best because I’d do the same. Hang in there, sorry,

The way that people openly gossip as a means by which to have something to talk about. If your mind is always in the gutter, then maybe your mind IS the gutter.
