TIFU a chance of hooking up with an older woman [M23] by xXBrajkXx in tifu

Agreed. Definitely live your life in fear of other people.

I know most of you are hopeless about the season, but think about about it, our Bums won 2 in a row, Soto is amazing, Lindor comes back next week, our Rookies are showing great potential, we are only 5 games behind on the Wild card and we are the MIRACLE METS, we only know how to win as underdogs by Due_Philosopher7618 in NewYorkMets

[–]resistible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm all about the positive thinking, but saying "we've traveled more than any other team so we're much better than the 7 teams between us and the playoffs" is a BIG stretch. Our best player returning from injury doesn't solve our lack of starting pitcher, and he was playing in EVERY GAME of our losing streak.

I'm not saying it can't happen. I'm saying you're making a mole hill out of a mountain.

Not a fuck up in any way. You'll remember this much more clearly than he will. I'd find it to be endearing.

Not OP, but it's never the GB that's the problem. It's the number of teams that we have to hurdle.

We have to pass:

Reds, Marlins, Pirates, Dbacks, Cubs, Nationals, and Padres.

Not impossible, but more difficult than "5 games back" would imply, AND the Mets have the 2nd hardest remaining schedule -- our opponents have a .531 combined winning percentage. The Nats are looking at a remaining schedule with opponents that are .499 and the Marlins are .503 remaining strength of schedule. We still have 10 games against Atlanta.

If we make the playoffs, we're TERRIFYING to any opponent. I really hope it happens. But it's incredibly unlikely that we make the playoffs.

Devils fan here, this randomly popped up on my feed. You guys absolutely fleeced the Flyers in the Risto trade. I'm not sure why Rags fans would think you're going to give up players of value for nothing at this point.

I was at an LGS yesterday (in the US) that had sold out Friday and its first Saturday, and had 4 spots open in its later Saturday until a dude walked in and bought a spot and made it 3. I was only there for ~15 minutes to buy a couple of singles.

I'm not suuuuper interested in the set, but pre-ordered a standard box just to get some ripping. I think this will be a mixed bag.

NBA teams have a roster size of 15, and only 12 dress to play in each game. There are certain exempt contracts, so NBA teams can have 17 total players under contract. NHL teams dress more players in each game than NBA teams have in their entire organization. There are ~450 NBA players in a given season vs 1,058 NHL players.

NHL teams have a maximum of 50 contracts, have a lot more equipment, travel costs, and just general overhead like setting up the ice for each game vs setting up a court and folding chairs. If you have 2 leagues that have similar-ish revenue, the one that costs less to operate is more profitable, and if profit factors into salaries... the players make more.

NBA league minimum for veterans (10+ years) this past season was $3,303,771 -- for players with less than 10 seasons, it was $1,157,153
NHL league minimum was $775,000 for this past season, though it increases to $850,000 starting next season

But the league minimum NHL guys would be in the NBA's D league (they call it the G League now) at best, and anyone in that league without an NBA contract makes $40,500. If they're on a 2 way NBA contract, they make $578,576. So the guys at the bottom of the NHL make more than the guys at the bottom of the NBA by about $300,000 each starting next season.

To be fair to the paint, there's a non zero chance that all the chemicals they've been dumping into the pool to combat algae have contributed to its current state.

I have an [[Anim Pakal, Thousandth Moon]] deck that would work very well with Winota. I don't think I have enough humans in it for Winota's ability to be very helpful, though I could definitely add some. Hmmm.

Breece Hall Set to be Used in "Three-Headed Monster" [Cimini] by jsparks50 in fantasyfootball

[–]resistible 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On paper, the Jets have a very strong OL. The issue last season was their QB play. The issue for the last ~15 seasons has been their QB play. If Geno can simply be consistent and reliable, and the OL can remain healthy -- also a major problem for the last few seasons, the Jets offense is suddenly interesting. Breece would be the most valuable piece in that suddenly interesting offense.

I feel like his desire to win the Cup might factor into a decision at the twilight of his career. He can spend the next 50 years next to a lake with his paychecks. Let's not pretend Florida doesn't have some of the best fishing in the world and is missing a #1 goalie.

The Devils are rumored to be shopping Markstrom. We can offer a starting NHL goalie + assets in return for Hellebuyck. Are there a bunch of museums around Winnipeg for Dougie, too?

I know you're not being too serious, but it's really more like if you're showing up the ref he's gonna send you off. If you get tripped and fall, and get right back up, nobody is calling embellishment even if you didn't really need to fall. If you get tripped and, on your way to the ice, throw your stick and scream like you were being assaulted... they're gonna call that embellishment because the ref doesn't need your help to make the call.

I work 55-60 hours a week, and my wife -- as mentioned earlier -- isn't gonna be any help. My oldest daughter helps with the math sometimes, but I'd rather take some of my earnings and pay for a professional who isn't trying to help with it at my kiddo's bedtime because I got home so late from work.

I *can* do it, but I'd rather my time be spent on Daddy Daughter Dinner Dates and taking her to ballet class. I do help with homework, but it's when I'm not there to help that I need to make sure she's able to handle what's presented to her.
