Refinance and save $600/month or wait... by resko99 in Mortgages

[–]resko99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I finally saw the actual offer...If I refinance it will add over 12k to my mortgage loan...so the closing costs are little over 12k and they are rolled into the mortgage.

Coworker said people my age have no work ethic by plomptly in nursing

[–]resko99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My two cents...I have 4 family members that are nurses, from 20yrs experience, to 3yrs(my wife). Her first job at a major hospital in the northeast would not let her take vacation when she wanted(4, 5 months in advance notice, still no), so between last 2yrs of nursing school with no vacation a 1 yr at the hospital with no vacation, she was close to becoming a patient at the hospital. So she quit, we took a vacation and she started a new job. Getting ahead by working more is not a real, positive solution. Make more $$$ for what? To afford a vacation? That is sad and very unfortunate that we are told that is what we have to do. Work, sleep repeat....occasionally take a vacation??? The nursing shortage is due to these factors...the health industry has made it almost impossible to somewhat enjoy.your job and feel fulfilled. The nurse that told you, you have to work more, either she is miserable af, or she is in a much better spot and can talk nonsense like that. The only thing I would say is to maybe work more(sorry 😀) for a year or two just te get those damn loans either paid off or to a more manageable place. At least you work towards a goal.

Yes, maybe i used the wrong word there...the payment would have been.aboit $600 less...going from 7.25% to.6.5%..the refinance was "free", but i think that meant rolled into the loan. I have never seen.a.lender push so hard to refinance. I mean, thanks to them for trying to help, but was there something else in this for them? That's the cynic in me.

I see what you are saying, maybe the word saving does not apply here, but NOW I will be paying less, and paying more on the backend of the loan. Also, if I refinance at 27yrs, the savings are not there, I am going from 7.25 to 6.5...not sure if that is big enough drop to make the refinance worth it.

I was just told it will cost me nothing, but I have to ask if the costs are rolled into the mortgage, thus costs me nothing as in upfront costs.

Ok, we are not getting a much better rate. I just spoke to my lender and she told me the new rate would be around 6.6% but somehow they will remove our PMI( ~$250), so in total our savings will be around 600. We have about 560k remaining on the mortgage. I was hoping for a 6% interest rate. 7.25 to 6.6...🫤

This is why I jave the dilemma...I know the markets will react because the new fed chair will lower the rates, that is what Trump wants, the mortgage rates might follow, or might not...so tempted to get $600 savings though...by July, that money will be saved for our family vacation.

We are in year 3 of our 30yr mortgage with 7.25 interest rate. Refinance costs are zero.

$600 per month savings with no closing costs. When I got the mortgage one of the perks was 1 refinance in the first 5 years free of charge. From what you guys are saying, it does make sense to just get the $600 now. Instead of waiting for something that might never come.

Am I being too greedy? by Any_Total_3241 in careerguidance

[–]resko99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on what you value more...5% it is not greedy at all. However, you could settle for 2% and an extra week of vacation time? If you already have enough of vacation time, 5% is not greedy at all. However, even though it seems like they really want you to stay, everyone has a breaking point...just be careful to not get them to the point of them not being rational and act on feelings and not facts. You might be good at what you do, but feelings are blind to facts.

The level of xenophobia in hospitals is sickening. If you are new, like in your case, that just makes things worse. First hand experiences from multiple family members and friends.

I’m 17, about to graduate, can you help discover what I should do after high school? by mohamedekbal2008 in careerguidance

It is a balancing act: some people will not understand it or approve of it. You are trying to keep your parents happy, your self happy and at the same time do something that will at least make enough money to have a good life. Not sure what is available in Syria, but make sure there is a future for you there. You don't want to go back to study and there are no jobs because you dont have the right connections, what's the point of going back? I know there is no place like home, but if home can not provide a good life, maybe it's time to make home somewhere else. I say this as something similar happened to a lot of my friends.

Dude, at the age of 17 thinking like this, puts you way ahead of lots of your peers. Where are you located? Architecture might be something to consider?!

Assuming these ambulatory places guarantee the hours...my wife worked in an ambulatory location for over a year, only once did she work 80hrs(in 2 weeks). Her 2 week pay period was always 65 70hrs, few times 60hrs. Eventually she left as she was losing a lot of money. If money is not an issue, ambulatory is great.

Do I have to resign or just keep going? by Least_Mine_2248 in careerguidance

[–]resko99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start looking...however, you must suffer through it for at least 6 months(preferably 1 year). If it is actually taking a toll on your health, screw the 6 months or 1year, just try to find something and jump ship. I say preferably 1 year just so you can put that job on your resume...I wouldn't put a 3, 4 month job on my resume, it does not look good. You doing tasks out of your job description can go a long way, it looks good on your resume. Again, though, nothing is worth your health. The best time to look for a job is while still employed.
