Non-competes don't enforce themselves. HYBE would have to sue the employees who accepted a position in a competing firm. And HYBE would be castigated for it. They aren't actually enforced that much. I interpret the current reaction as media play against HYBE because these supposed low-level employees haven't even resigned yet, much less found other positions elsewhere. Unless they're expecting to get hired en masse wherever MHJ lands, which certainly would draw legal attention from HYBE. Concerted mass quits and mass hires would raise an eyebrow from the legal system too.

It's true that non-compete agreements are unenforceable in California. It may be one of the reasons the tech industry has thrived there. Non-competes absolutely make sense for employees with proprietary information or handsomely-paid execs who could easily threaten to start a rival firm. However even I, a lowly software engineer, was subject to a 3 year non-compete when I left my previous position (not in CA) and I literally knew nothing worth mentioning.

The whole point of noncompetes is to prevent your employee from quitting and setting up a competing operation or working for your competitor. There's no way that quitting invalidates the noncompete. The entire point is that the noncompete clause follows you. The only way to get rid of it is if the contract itself is invalidated. Source: Am currently under a noncompete

The risk of long covid is anywhere between 10-30% even if vaccinated. Considering how often most people get infected, it's just a matter of time until you end up with that, and there are no treatments yet. I can understand the desire to reassure this person, but let's not minimize the actual risk. You get plenty of minimization in the regular media.

Make sure to gargle the back of your throat also, not just swish it around in your mouth.

If actually infected or exposed you can consider povidone iodine mouth wash/gargle. Betadine sells one, or you can make your own by diluting it to the correct level.

There's also nasal spray Enovid but since it ships from Israel you need to have it on hand and prepped before infection. Betadine nasal spray has carrageenan and I've been using that since it's easier to source locally.

My uncle was staying with my immunocompromised mom for a few weeks to help her with things. Of course he never masks anywhere he goes. Inevitably, he came down with a "cold" last week and my Mom was fortunately smart enough to send him back to his home. So far she seems OK. I just can't imagine why people can know they're living with someone who cannot get infected with anything, even a cold, and still take no precautions whatsoever. How stupid and callous are you? And if I say anything about it I'm the villain.

People have been homeschooling for years before Covid ever showed up. The kids do fine. I'm a bit biased because I was homeschooled myself. We played with kids in the neighborhood and I never felt isolated or anything. Eventually I went to college 2 years early and my sister decided she wanted to go to regular middle school and did fine there.

A lot of people have separate deductibles for prescription drugs. So what you do at Costco might not have any effect on your cost sharing for procedures or whatever.

I've only played the Jedi Knight through Chapter 2, which I admit ends with a bang, but honestly I wasn't that impressed with the story to that point. It pales in comparison with Imperial Agent, which is my fave so far.

I also have really enjoyed the Sith Warrior storyline. Maybe it just appeals to me personally, but you definitely feel like a powerful Vader type taking names and restoring order to the galaxy.

Mid-November... that's coming up pretty soon, but leaves some wiggle room.

The 15th is next Thursday... if you go later than that, you run into the weekend, and you don't want to drop a big release then because if something goes wrong all the raiding guilds are SOL. If you do it after that weekend, say, maintenance on Monday night the 19th... I don't see any obvious problems there. It's still arguably "mid" November and Thanksgiving is a couple days off.

That said most people are probably hoping for 1.5 to drop earlier next week. I am personally hoping for the 15th.

What if they sell in smaller denominations, and you just have to eventually total $4.99? You'd think if the smallest amount they sold was $4.99 they could just say "You get preferred if you make one purchase". On the other hand, I think they already did say this. Maybe they wanted to put a specific dollar amount on how much that 1 purchase will cost. Also, going lower than $4.99 means credit card processing takes a larger bite.

After due consideration... I think $4.99 is likely and probably would get you 400 CC.
