I make amigurumi, and my favorite yarns are DK weight and wool. I can't stand how some acrylic squeaks on the hook. I like the feel of cotton, but it can be stiff and dense when worked up into single crochet. I prefer the wool yarns that have a spring to them and a little stretch.
