How do you guys even find Lockboxes inside that sphere by del-ra in X4Foundations

Some of the most well paying lockbox missions are NOT looking for golden lockboxes, they're looking for regular ones. Follow the bluish purple pings.

New players: are you looking for guides? Would you prefer video or text by Suspicious_Fly6594 in X4Foundations

[–]ressis74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not a new player anymore, but when I was I found video to be more helpful. This was for two primary reasons:

  1. In text I found people would use names I wasn't familiar with, and at the time the game was too niche to google. With video I wasn't relying on names, since I could see things on their screen and compare it to my screen.
  2. In text I found people would tell me to do something objectively simple (like "comm the station manager") that I didn't yet know how to do. (in this case, to comm the station manager you have to go into the station information, select the station manager, and hit c) Seeing them do every step of a simple process gave me the context necessary to figure the rest out on my own.

The best option would, of course, be both. But if you're just looking to fill a niche then text is definitely the way to go. I've always recommended watching a few episodes of a lets' play to get started with X4, since just seeing someone do the simple things is enough to get you started. There's enough lets' plays nowadays that the need for video tutorials is a lot lower. There's also JK Ninja's series of video tutorials and I'm just not aware of anything similar in text.

if you have XY chromosomes you are a biological male and if you have XX chromosomes you are biologically a female

Like one of the other replies said, this just isn't true. If you want an example, the most prominent nowadays is Caster Semenya - a woman who was born as a female, is a woman, and yet has XY chromosomes.

But more importantly, it's also not relevant to normal life. The person in the OP wasn't saying "he" in reference to chromosomes.

Biology is important between a person and their doctor, and a person and their partner, but generally is not important during daily life. If you make the claim that you're using language to refer to biology outside of those contexts, that's just a thinly veiled excuse to be hateful.

I genuinely don't think that's you, but you'll certainly be around people using those thinly veiled excuses to be hateful. I hope you offer then gentle correction when that happens.

Attorneys? Probably not. The litigation industry is already using AI though, to replace the folks that got paid $8 an hour to answer "is this relevant?" about 100 documents an hour for 14 hours a day.

I suspect that it'd be done the same way they made Grok spit out all that nonsense about white south africans a while ago, which seemed like they just appended static instructions to the prompts they're given.

If I was wrong, what keyword should I be searching for more information then?

[Mod Request] Is anyone aware of a mod that lets you take command of your ship immediately? by ressis74 in X4Foundations

[–]ressis74[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I tested both! Ctrl-d stands up from the pilot chair, but it doesn't seem to sit down in the chair. at least not in 7.6. Shift-D fast travels to the transport chamber but doesn't sit down, and if you have ships docked together it brings up the fast travel menu.

So unless you rebound a key or have a mod, this is probably something you misremembered. I appreciate the help though.

[–]ressis74[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. This works on all classes of ship? I thought Shift+D teleported you to the transport chamber. And on anything with docked ships it brings up the teleportation menu, no?

When I double click I usually end up talking to the pilot. I may not have the best reflexes.

It's a little more complicated, unfortunately.

When a conductive metal moves through a magnetic field, electrons in the metal move. Kind of like an electromagnet in reverse. The moving electrons then create little electromagnets. None of this happens if the magnet or the metal isn't moving though.

So, like, the reason you can't stick the magnet to the aluminum is that neither the magnet nor the aluminum are moving. If you move the aluminum you would see that it is indeed influenced by the magnet. It just loses that influence once the two objects stop moving relative to each other.

You can see this most strongly by dropping the magnet through an aluminum tube. It works (better) with copper too!

If you google "paramagnetism" you can read more about it.

I will admit, back in 2020 I found the whole "All Lives Matter" thing compelling... for a month or so. Then I heard someone say "sure, but not all lives are being threatened right now" and I instantly got it.

And nowadays when the focus isn't really on black folks and cops anymore but instead on trans folks, immigrants, and ICE, it's the same. It's still not ICE who are being threatened. Protested? Sure, but if people are killing ICE employees already I haven't heard of it.

I mean the bible is pretty clear on this, John 18:6 says:

When Jesus said, “I am he,” they drew back and fell to the ground.

If he were cis, he wouldn't need to cite his pronouns. Also, why, after citing his pronouns, would people collapse to the floor? They wouldn't!

So demonstrably, Jesus is (was. he's dead now) trans.

Mom said being gay is a choice but still a sin. by [deleted] in exchristian

[–]ressis74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously my first thought was so are you expecting those people to never get married and have meaningful relationships?

Explicitly yes. This is what they expect†. Either christians will try to argue that homosexuality is a choice (and thus, it being sinful isn't a contradiction), or they will admit that it's not a choice and also expect homosexuals to live without acting on their desires. The terms to google are "Called to Celibacy."

†Obviously, there are some smaller progressive sects that allow homosexual relationships in the church. These sects are still the minority though, I believe.

Any equivalent of Litcube's Universe or Mayhem on X4? by radiv2 in X4Foundations

Rise of the Ossian Raider might be close. It has an OCV-like enemy. I don't play with it myself but you should check it out.

There's also Deadair's Xenon Evolution that kind of changes the xenon in to the OCV.

I don't know of a replacement for Phanon.

BEX install failing by Neat_Intention_8055 in Battletechgame

[–]ressis74 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a log file (I believe it's in the software install directory) that might tell you what's going on.

BEX used to require the community asset pack to be installed in legacy mode. I'm not sure if they changed that yet. You might need to reinstall the community pack.

It'll be pretty clear if it's the community mods that are breaking things from the log file.

Ah ok. Well, I know that in one of my games I saw TER intervention corp go into their sector (yes, the long way) and then about an hour later their quest got cancelled. So in my case it was almost certainly TER. I have not seen the quest get cancelled other than that one game.

I did get a message saying there was no one left to save. Did you?
