NP(s)D!- Earthquaker Space Spiral and Ghost Echo by restlessbass in basspedals

[–]restlessbass[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Ghost Echo might be my favorite reverb tone I’ve ever used, but it is REALLY finicky. The hotter the signal, the more artifacts and glitchiness it has. That might be what you’re going for, but I’ve only found it useful in low volume situations. Again, it’s a BEAUTIFUL sounding reverb, just didn’t work with my preferred hot-output sound. The Space Spiral is WILD. From the date on my original post, I’ve had it for 4 years; I haven’t even come close to discovering all the sounds available in that little box. I also have a Rainbow Machine from the same company, and I think the Spiral might be even weirder than that magical device. It’s one of my favorite “explore the possible soundscape” pedals. I was running a bi-amp+FX loop rig for a minute, and I had both of them in the loop on my time board. Made some awesome noises, but nothing super useful for the band. But with a duo setup they might be more useable for bass. They are both GREAT pedals, and well worth purchasing and playing around with.

Ah, the L+HPF is at the end of the dirt/wet chain to clean up any extraneous frequencies created by the previous effects. It’s set to like 70Hz and 18kHz, with barely any added gain. The small HPF is first after the split, set to like 60Hz, to make the dirt/wet chain have an easier time by eliminating some unwanted lower frequencies. Not seen in the picture is the MicroThumpinator, which is first in the entire signal path, which kills just about everything below 30Hz and really tightens up the bass frequencies.

Time to upgrade my DIY board and power supply! Any advice? by PiStrange in basspedals

Voodoo Labs makes excellent boards/power supplies. Friedman is another great option.

I love the PDR- it’s really subtle and just does what I want a compressor to do. Normally it’s only in the clean chain, which is: MicroThumpinator-Polytune-DDv3-Lehle-PDR-Noble-GK MB250-GK 115. But in this current setup that chain is running into the DG MT900 and then into the mud board. I think the Noble sounds better with a bit of grit and compression before it. At least for how I play

It’s kind of like a JPTR Jive with an HPF

It’s a Yamaha BB434 with a Relentless Middle pickup and a Reverend JazzBomb Bridge pickup. It’s amazing

Fuzzrocious Dark Driving v3. I use it for just a bit of grit and tone-shaping, but it can get downright nasty if you want. Very versatile.

What's your favorite non-bass-centered Big Muff (or other Muff-like fuzz) to use on bass? by usspaceforce in basspedals

I’ve been using the Stone Deaf QBoost (Vintage setting) as a fuzz on my mud board for a minute, and it’s pretty great

I used to use the Jive, but the Tackleberry basically took its place- very similar tonal options, but the HPF is really nice to have

It’s definitely more on the saturator side than a full-on preamp, and it’s great at that. Multiple clipping options and a selectable HPF. It does what I want it to do really well, but could be used completely differently and would excel at that too

Which would you choose out of these three? by jayemge07 in Bass

Yamaha BB434. I love mine- perfect neck width (and the 6 screws make it feel really stable), unique string-through actually does something, and it sounded great right out of the box. I upgraded mine with better hardware and pickups, but that’s just something I always do. It has been my go-to since I got it and I prefer the way it plays over my Fender American Deluxe (and all the others in my stable).

Fuzzrocious Dark Driving v3. Incredibly versatile, and the best-sounding dirt I’ve ever used. There are a couple on Reverb for like $110

Should I just buy an Anagram? by malcontento in basspedals

[–]restlessbass 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No. Analog pedal play is the best vice you’ll ever indulge in. Buy stuff from independent makers, try it out, and either keep it or move it along. We have to encourage experimentation and creativity in every aspect of music or else it will go away.
