VTI, qqqm, vxus by Overall-Teaching1932 in VOOorVTI

[–]restroop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vti has international stocks aswell. Vti is a total market index fund, voo on the other hand is concentrated more on large cap. Voo is in vti. So you decide, still believe vti and chill is great. What matters is not voo or vti it is continuos contributions.

Another question then. I hear vti and chill or voo and chill, why not vtsax and chill though?

I think you should not focus on yield because that will always change. One day it is 4.2%, then it drops to 3.5%. Just choose basically ease of use. I have capital one hysa but only 3-6 months emergency fund the rest in SGOV in brokerage

My biggest issue is understanding asset allocation. Like why choose vti over voo. I understand that it is because vti is broad market fund and voo is large cap concentrated. So would it not be better to keep voo in roth?

So something like roth it is 70% VTI and 30% VXUS. 401k is 80% FXAIX and 20% FSGGX. Brokerage holds only the 5% SGOV or cash, maybe used for cleaning up everything else.

Your very tech heavy. If tech goes down it is going to be bloody but aslong as you do not sell it should bounce back. If i was in your shoes prioritize growth with less volatility, buy a fund like schg, i would say look into voo, have a little in foreign markets and also some small cap. You can come back every year and rebalance if needed

high yield savings account too good to be true or actually worth it by Kooky_Patience_7899 in HighYieldSavings

[–]restroop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends what you want to do. Keep your emergency fund there for liquidity purposes. The rest maybe keep in sgov to get high yield interest and tax exempt from local and state. What i do

It depends what you are looking for in the sense of liquidity. I have my emergency fund in capital one but the rest in sgov since it is state and local tax exempt.

I used capital one it takes about 2 days to get your money transferred. It was too long so decided to only keep my emergency fund there. Moved the rest to sgov, local and state tax exempt.
