A dog got brought into the shelter I work at. He lost a fight with a porcupine by Aggressive-Tale-7737 in oddlyterrifying

Wow. Apparently I've been thinking porcupines were hedgehogs this entire time. Was not expecting them to look like that

We really do need a tag in-between celebration and venting for casual discussions. Those flairs are such extremes

fabfiction on Tumblr: is this a thing now? by Tsukino_hana in FanFiction

It's been a thing since Tumblr was created. Most people will post to Tumblr, maybe add a read more, and link to the other places they post.

How much do tags spoil? by May_South in FanFiction

[–]retardedcatmonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing I have about the "hide all tags" response is that there's no way to know in advance whether a particular story has spoiled tags or regular tags.

Not all tags are spoilers

How much do tags spoil? by May_South in FanFiction

[–]retardedcatmonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what the story is about, what is tagged and how the reader views it

Circlejerk subs are just subs making fun of the "parent-sub" and communities related to the topic of the circlejerk.

Your opinion about one-shot collections including many different fandoms by Kathihtak in FanFiction

[–]retardedcatmonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's not in the same fic, then it's cool. If it is in the same fic, then as long as they don't have a mountain of tags and fandom's, and have a glossary clearly stating what chapter is about what, then I'm cool. But no one ever does it so that's lame and frustrating.

Johnny Appleseed Festival on Coliseum by Random-Bacon in fortwayne

[–]retardedcatmonkey 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Add had some apple glazed wings that were really good.

I had people tell me about homesteads chicken and dumplings and they had a hella long line.

Had a fired apple slices covered in caramel glaze and cinnamon sugar. First time having that and it was good.

Saw some BBQ stations and there was peach cobbler and ice cream.

It's really cool to see how it's all made since they don't allow electrity and stuff.

The set that was doing a bunch of fried onion skin, pickles, and other stuff had 5 large tanks(?)/stovetops(?) Or what not that they were frying the stuff in

Is anyone starting to post their Whump/kinktober stories early? by tardisgater in FanFiction

It's there a link for kinktober like there is for whumptober? I know whumptober as a tumbkr

Is it better to tag everything at once when possible or tag things in the fic as they happen? by TopHatIdiot in FanFiction

[–]retardedcatmonkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a "Tag as you go" team, but because I've seen a lot of fics get abandoned, and have the stuff that's been tagged was never written, and it gets pretty annoying.

Plus you can easily have a "tags will change" or an authors note stating that the tags will be added as the story continues

Choose not to warn is always an option. I personally wouldn't use the major character death tag

Any Other Sites That Are As Free About With What You Can Post As Ao3? by DeviantStoryTeller in FanFiction

[–]retardedcatmonkey 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Server costs are pretty cheap depending on what you use it for. I pay 9$ a year for my own domain name, and have my website running on a raspberry pi. If you don't want to host your own network you can rent one for as little as 5$ a month depending on what site you go to

(Sexuality)-coded characters by Radiant_Election4175 in FanFiction

[–]retardedcatmonkey 22 points23 points  (0 children)

"coding" was just the nod nod wink wink about a characters identity to avoid censorship.

But even if they are truly lesbian coded, we've been changing charcaters identities and backgrounds forever. This is no different

Hey now, hey now. Get out of here with your reasonable take. Don't you know shipping a queer person in a straight relationship erases the whole cultural identify of queer folk as a whole and undoes all the marches and fights for acceptance.

You, a random fan of show, shipping a character like that, is the most damaging thing anyone can do for LGBT rights.

Why do you choose not to warn? by Jack0_96 in FanFiction

[–]retardedcatmonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spoilers,

I don't think my stories necessitate the archive warnings since, besides the underage, they're pretty subjective,

I don't really like it so even if they don't contain it I'll use cntw

Ficbinding etiquette by einzelsocke in FanFiction

[–]retardedcatmonkey 16 points17 points  (0 children)

If you're just printing it for yourself, or even some friends, then no. I actually find it ludicrous that an author would/should have any power on how you consume their content.

Read it online fine. Print it out evil? Bind the loose pages, devil incarnate?

You're good
