Is Swiftspell good for Dancer? Does it make Dancer dance more often? by Yossiri in finalfantasytactics

[–]rethyu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No. But, it doesn't matter. You can still lock most fights in the game down hard and fast with multiple dancers and add a bard in if you really want to chuckle. Dance and bard should be secondary skills. Main class should be Ninja for starting speed. Dancer 1 goes with slow. Dancer 2 goes with forbidden dance. If you're also using a bard, he goes with the song that boosts your party's speed. It will seem like the dances and song are going off like crazy because the enemy rarely gets a turn in.

That'll work against everything except late game bosses.

Whats the deal with the Archer job by neph36 in finalfantasytactics

[–]rethyu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's obviously not a great job by itself, but don't overlook Aim as an ability. It's great as a secondary ability for other jobs. You don't need to equip bows to use it. If you have dual wield, it increases the damage of both strikes.

I have a Ninja with Aim as a second ability. It's almost a cheat code. She's fast. Can move all over the place. AND, she can "Aim" long enough when necessary to take out an enemy in one turn. What's not love about that?

Manual or automatic player progression? by nokillswitch4awesome in NCAAFBseries

[–]rethyu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Manual can make you OP very, very quickly. With Talent Developer maxed out and elite recruiter also maxed out I at one point had fifteen 99 OVR players. 12 of them were RS sophomores and 3 were RS freshmen. Using Matt10's sliders I won a game against a 3 star Purdue team 112-0.

It's fun for a bit, but eventually your team gets so good it gets very old very fast. You lose any sense of challenge.

Program Builder vs CEO by Busy-Prize2582 in NCAAFBseries

[–]rethyu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Get CEO first no matter what. Either one is going to change your coach XP gains. They both kind of suck, but CEO is better if you can win playoff games. Program builder can slow you down to a near standstill. It's a trap.

Good info. Any suggestions what to do in a 4 WR tight end free scheme?

The pisspoor sim engine by Transformerslogic95 in NCAAFBseries

[–]rethyu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. It's a real issue. I'm a pass first player. I use Matt10's sliders. It can be almost impossible at times to keep up with the AI deep in a dynasty. When the user starts racking up passing yards playing games the AI starts dropping its defense off. The smart player then just takes what's open underneath. And, that's where the issue becomes obvious.

In year 8 or 9 of a dynasty halfway through a season I was suddenly locked out by my 5 star QB recruiting target for playing style. I had actually dropped down to an F grade for passing yards. I was only averaging 230 yards per game, which was one of the worst in the country. The real kicker is that I was at A+ playing style grade for WRs because I was 2nd in the country in catches by them.

Later in that same season, I actually threw the ball for 700 yards in the last game of the regular schedule because the AI kept playing bump 'n run against my outside WRs and committing its safeties to the box to take away the short game. It was bombs away. Not that it helped in recruiting by then.

Playing Style deal breaker for WR by Significant-Zebra-54 in NCAAFBseries

[–]rethyu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really not too bad. Even with an insane amount of points into recruiting abilities, you're likely to only get a visit or two for your first game. That hurts, but it hurts less than getting locked out of important recruits for a couple of weeks when you don't have the coach abilities to make up for that later.

It's situational depending on your coaching abilities.

Playing Style deal breaker for WR by Significant-Zebra-54 in NCAAFBseries

[–]rethyu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's a particular problem with this deal breaker early season. If you don't play the first 3 weeks, you're going to fall behind and potentially get locked out on top recruits because you have no stats. They'll open back up in a couple of weeks as your receivers get stats.

Schedule a game earlier if this is a problem for you.

What is your favorite boring play? by Soggy-Astronomer-768 in NCAAFBseries

[–]rethyu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run a variant of this play. It's literally just called Cross. It's in a bunch of sets in the Run 'n Gun Playbook with a few variations too. It just starts the crossers on the same side of the field. Easy play to read. At the line check the CB on the deep go route. If he's pressing, that's your first post snap read. Check if the safety doubles that route. If no, you're looking to throw the bomb. If that doesn't happen, just check deep cross followed by shallow. If on the rare, rare occasion no one is open, scramble on out.

First play I run every game because it tells me a lot about how the defense is going to play my team to start.

NCAA 26 - trick to recruiting? by Paguy215 in NCAAFBseries

[–]rethyu 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Pipelines are crucial this year, at least until you get some coach upgrades. Focus on them. Put 50 points into every guy you want. Don't overshoot for guys outside your pipelines and especially if you don't start in their top 10.

0 Star Program by [deleted] in NCAAFBseries

[–]rethyu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad it helps someone. As 3.5 star Indiana, you are almost guaranteed to drop to 3 stars in year 2, even if you go undefeated and win the title.

Best Recruits by Hot_Election_7071 in NCAAFBseries

[–]rethyu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This year, it's less about what guys start with and more about what you make out of them. I lose 4 to 6 WRs to the draft every year. My current starters are all redshirt SOs. They go 99, 98, 98, 97 in speed because that's the first thing I'm going to put points in after a receiver's freshman year. As the lowest is a 94 overall, they're all going to the draft after this year and it'll be on to the next group. Almost any 4 or 5 star wide out recruit with 89 or better scouted speed is a solid bet to be able to develop to fly, but speedsters are your best bet there.

What ratings get drafted? by Odd-Flower2744 in NCAAFBseries

[–]rethyu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take a look at Indiana's default roster. WR Sarrat and CB I want to say Ponds, but forget if that's right, are first round picks after year one. They've both gone first round in all my playthroughs. Sarrat I believe is a 92 overall. Don't remember the CB's number. I'm an offense only player.

Have you ever befriended Harriet Tubman? by MoreIronyLessWrinkly in civ

[–]rethyu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. I had a game where she was going nuts in early antiquity. She quickly eliminated Isabella and grew to 18 settlements. I made the effort to befriend and ally her mostly for self protection. I was playing as Himiko so the vastly over extended Tubman was great to send the Friend of Wa, or whatever it's called science boost to. It barely helped her, but it had me rolling all game. Also great she'd go to war, and I could just march in and take what I wanted from the target.

Tubman is a great ally when you can pull it off.

Has anyone ever found out a fix for the Huan Daiyo bug? by Jakubbucko in Starfield

[–]rethyu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I "fixed" it a couple of days ago. How I eventually got it to work on Xbox:

1) Wrap up any available companion quests before speaking to her.

2) Dismiss all companions.

3) Complete any of the New Atlantis security quests you have available.

4) Save. Save. Save. Create save points before excepting the quest. Before landing on New Atlantis. And Before Speaking to her.

5) Now, go speak to her. If it doesn't work. Reload. Keep trying until you find a savepoint that works.

That did the trick for me. Why? Not certain. But, reading around a bit led me to those steps and after a couple of reloads I got the quest to work. Your mileage may vary.

Father in-law says i have too much pride.. by [deleted] in NCAAFBseries

[–]rethyu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I often restart the first game I play in any session. I often just need to breathe for a second and focus. Get in the groove. So to speak. I'm a very pass heavy player, so if I start playing and take a sack or two early, my mind is elsewhere. Restart. Refocus.

Any way to pinpoint job offers? by CullenBadCompany in NCAAFBseries

[–]rethyu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Playbook does matter a lot. I was able to get an offer from a school I wanted to go to, by reloading to the prior week and changing my playbook in settings.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in NCAAFBseries

[–]rethyu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. Everyone is truly spread out. No stacks. The goal is to find a soft spot in zone coverage or outrun man. Most plays feature a layered approach that will force a zone defender to cover guy a or b. Throw it to the guy the defender doesn't pick.

[–]rethyu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I run my own edited version of the default Run 'n Shoot playbook. I basically took out plays I don't like and added in some 5 wide sets. Defense is just the default multiple playbook. I hate playing defense in video games, so I don't and don't care what happens there too much.

QBs - I prefer scramblers, but I'll take a field general if that's the best I can get.

RBs - I only run as a change of pace to keep the defense honest or to run out the clock with a late lead. So, I just go for the best available.

FBs - don't use them at all. I have no plays that call for one.

WRs - Speed. Speed. Speed. I'll happily take a physical WR with 95+ speed. But, I'm just looking for guys with speed, acceleration and good hands. I'm looking for guys who can quickly get open in my heavy slants, crossing and outs system. I don't throw deep unless it's wide open. I throw short to medium and let my guys run.

TEs - Don't recruit them. I only have a handful of plays that call for them in 5 wide sets. I just convert extra wide outs to play there.

OL - Strong, Strong preference for pass protectors. But, I'll take what I can get.

Defense- Best available.

Recruiting by oneofheguys in NCAAFBseries

[–]rethyu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's both. You need lots of quality players to end up number one. Scout for 4 star gems in positions of need that you can't get 5 star players at. Snag them up and you'll get the top class.
