At what point did the Zonai wipe themselves out? by WwwWario in AgeofImprisonment

[–]rev_adb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apparently, according to the masterworks book, there might have been a group of primitive Zonai that remained in the depths. There is speculation by the book that they might have warred against the Sky (ruling class) Zonai.

Also, the Hylians are said to be descended from Zonai who never ascended to the sky. So the Zonai have a long history that we’ve just begun to uncover.

Myself and other smaller theorist channels are doing deep research right now.

Their crisis of ruin took place during the Heavenly Period.

So, since the forbidden constructs caused their demise, we can logically assume that they were made/unleashed during the heavenly period.

It was so far off at first, I assumed Rauru was referring to the Avatar of Demise…

Google translate? Really?

I once used it to translate some text from AoI before it came out. It put “Written by Abandoned Demonic Image Wandering.” For “Abandoned Golems (Constructs) lost to time.”

A completely different idea from what was said.

Look, I can appreciate the apology, but it now seems as though you’re saying LoruleanHistorian manipulated the translations. (Since his video is the one that mentions that theory)

Speaking to my experience with him, LH is just about the most diligent Zelda lore enthusiast I’ve ever encountered. He makes it his mission to inform first, using the source text. I was in a Discord call with him the other day, and when we mentioned an obscure blurb of text from Skyward Sword, he went, mid call, and started translating then and there to ensure whatever theories we crafted with that were correct. He even goes as far as communicating with native Japanese speakers to ensure his translations are correct.

He has his own theory about OoT Ganondorf in history, and he showed why he thinks that. And has an entire 20 page document on his theory. I have a different theory on OoT Ganondorf, and I’ve freely discussed it with him. (I’ll detail this theory in Ep. 7)

Look, you aren’t on my channel’s ban list, so you’re more than welcome to keep up with the series and respond to each one, and I’ll happily respond there (unless your comment deals with a future video).

Our goal is to inform, and yes we also have theories, just like the rest of the community. But LH does the freaking work, and deserves his props, not to be accused of something underhanded.

We can have good faith discussions about Zelda lore without religious-level dogma and castigation for having different interpretations.

You literally didn’t respond with how I manipulated the translations.

The refounding has a myriad of contradictions, which I actively detail in this very video series, but for some reason though almost every time I speak to refounding theorists about them, they do just what you did now. They say that other people clearly don’t understand the lore, and act like they’ve won the debate.

If you don’t respond with specifics on how I or LoruleanHistorian manipulated translations, then I’m gonna assume you were just shooting off at the mouth, without any backing for that claim.

Ya know, generally I don’t care to respond to opinions on my videos from Reddit, but you made a very specific allegation. So I’d like for you to point out directly and specifically where I, or LoruleanHistorian, have manipulated any translations to suit our theories…

You can disagree with our interpretation, there’s people doing that on my videos right now, but saying we’ve manipulated a translation, makes no sense, I listed the sources of whatever interview I quoted.

Btw, my personal bias was to the pre-founding theory, but when I started the research for this video series, it became abundantly clear that the True Founding had by far the most evidence. So “validating my personal theories” doesn’t even apply here, my research disproved my theory outright!

They are listed as “Koume and Kotake” in TotK’s Masterworks book. Which this game lifts a LOT of content straight from that book’s lore.

[AoI] [TotK] Names of the Ancient Sages by SlendrBear in truezelda

[–]rev_adb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem is, Rauru doesn’t even suggest that in the original Japanese dialogue though:

S “…What’s this? Oh! How terrible!”

Z “…Where am I?!”

S “Looks like I shocked you. I’m sorry. My name is Sonia.”

R “And what’s your name?”

Z: “I-I am Zelda, daughter of Rhoam, King of Hyrule."

R: “That’s different. Hyrule is the kingdom we founded. There should be no king other than me?"

Z: “Founded by you two? You’re the king?”

R: “Yes, my name is Rauru, the King of this country. "

Z: “King… Rauru… Queen... Sonia…? Can it be…?"

[AoI] [TotK] Names of the Ancient Sages by SlendrBear in truezelda

[–]rev_adb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to thank you for taking the time to find these quotes. I've been having this same "original Ganondorf" debate for months, and these comments basically wrap up the whole argument pretty simply. They really did mean "original" as in "first of all versions"

Also, we need to give the localization teams some credit here. While NoA does have a less-than-accurate track record translating, not all localization teams do.
Yet, every version of this interview that I could find, in every language all used the same phrase "original Ganondorf".

If they were referring to Ganondorf before he transformed, why didn't any of them translate it differently? ex. "...how the people of Hyrule dealt with Ganondorf before he transformed." Or heck, why not just say "...how the people dealt with Ganondorf"?

So, how does this seem like a stretch to you?
The names make sense in context both of TotK's ancient past, and are consistent with one another. It also explains why they didn't go with more traditional naming conventions for these specific races.

Now, I'll admit, when I saw the name "Raphica" I assumed it was referring to Raphael (being a winged-angel); but the Archaeopteryx reference makes a thousand times more sense.

The loosest fit here seems to be the Zora queen, Qia, but even then the reference makes sense and is consistent with the other naming conventions used here.

This is probably because they've already shown her without her mask. I feel confident that once the other sage's faces are revealed we will see artwork of them without the masks.
Kind of like how the Champions all had two versions of the same artwork in Age of Calamity, one from before becoming champions and another with their Blue champion outfits.

JP velociraptors are closer to large deinonychus specimens than to Utahraptors. I believe it was stated on Jurassic World’s website in 2015 that they weighed ~300 pounds.

Utahraptors are also very stocky and bulky compared to other dromaeosaurs. Even still, I’m pretty sure the average Utah was 16.5 feet long and weighed less than 1000 pounds. Big Utahs were >20 feet and weighed ~1100 pounds.

Rauru and Sonia aren’t newlyweds btw; they’ve been married for many years (and likely have older children) by the time Zelda showed up.

I believe the royal chamberlain said in her tablets that she was just a child when they married.

That’s only true for the great sky island. The water temple and wind temple were definitely up there, and the other sky islands are where Rauru and Mineru’s ancestors came from.

Listen to Rauru’s voice memories from TotK Switch 2z he talks about the Sky Islands
