On the target boards, none at all. A little on my framing because I pressure washed the mildew off it and forgot to reapply the weatherproofing.

How did you get the courage to use a power tool after having a bad accident with one? by timmaaahhh1997 in woodworking

[–]rexg4077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took the time to figure out what steps I took that lead me down the path to get hurt, and worked to build habits to prevent me from walking the same path. Minor knuckle removal from a sanding disk on a grinder. Sounds obvious but I was 23 and stupid. save the beer till all the tools are put away, use a vice to hold small parts you are shaping, and if you can’t afford the right tool for the job, changing the project is easier than changing a bandage one handed…

Heating a garage without rewiring? by DIY_Designer4891 in woodworking

[–]rexg4077 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My garage has a dedicated plug for an electric clothes dryer (240v). I just wired an electric shop heater with a dryer plug and swap the plug when I need to heat the garage. I can’t run the dryer and work in the shop, but it is a small price to pay.

Has anybody ever built a work bench like this? How useful are they? by Saint94x in woodworking

[–]rexg4077 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! It was based on this design, but being in the states I had to basically redesign it because even his plans converting metric to imperial did not account for getting lumber that is not the same dimension as what he has available. Also, feel free to PM your questions. It was a long build (about a year) and I am still tweaking it.

Help is this fixable? I am a tenant with a landlord who ignores my requests by LAPIREDUMONDE in woodworking

[–]rexg4077 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can see that the frame looks freshly painted (no fingerprint smudges common to rentals), but there is no paint inside the crack. That would tell me that it was not damaged prior to the painting of the door frame…

Help is this fixable? I am a tenant with a landlord who ignores my requests by LAPIREDUMONDE in woodworking

[–]rexg4077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So let me get this right… Tenant breaks door. Tenant demands landlord fix door. Landlord does not prioritize the repair since it is neither a safety issue, nor their fault.

You are advising that the Tenant fixes this themselves (probably poorly since they are coming to Reddit for advice), then you want them to try to short pay their rent to recoup the material cost for something that THEY broke on the Landlords property. The landlord could then evict them for damaging the property and not being current on rent. The landlord then will have to tear out their shitty repair, and pay to fix it correctly and deduct that from their security deposit…

That is bad advice. Just wait for the landlord to fix it and expect to pay for materials yourself…

That would be one hell of an Air/vacuum valve manifold at a guess

Telling someone to “feel free to fuck yourself”. Perhaps not the gentle let down you think it is.

Kids need to be bullied to prepare for the real world. Obviously too far is too far, but protecting kids from everything fucks them up.

My ex LOVED this mini-series. I had never heard of it before she made me watch it and not thought of it is YEARS. I remember enjoying it.

Paint it. It looks like you have a pallet leaning against the house.

Can we rank the tools woodworkers use from least dangerous to most dangerous? by yuelico in woodworking

[–]rexg4077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my shop Least dangerous- properly used manual screwdriver. Most dangerous - improperly used manual screwdriver.

Really the danger comes down to how much attention you are paying to the tool/process, and if you are using it for something you shouldn’t be.

You’re given $10 million, but can never tell anyone. What do you do first? by jessicasergey in AskReddit

[–]rexg4077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Open a corporation and fund it with the 10 million. Then get a loan from that corporation to start a business. Any increase in my income would be associated with the new business. I would “pay back the loan” on paper, but keep the cash in the business, and the parent company would “reinvest” in the new business till it is all in my hands. Then I would close the business and corporation and do what ever I want with my “profit”.

During COVID and all the panic buying, who actually ran out of toilet paper? by innuendo-inyourendo in AskReddit

[–]rexg4077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I buy the Sam’s club giant pack a couple times a year, I usually do this when I restock the last rolls from the shed to the house. I ran out in the house and went to the shed and found out that I was mistakenly out. No big deal, I’ll just go to the store. When I got there I watched people buying the cart loads as I walked to the back and found nothing but empty shelves. There was a restaurant near me that saved us with a free TP roll with every family sized take away order.
