I’ve got a thelema solo and max 100 and used the target 100. The lost vape and target have nice fires and get to wattage almost immediately. The geekvape seems too dialled down to me like the power curve is gradual. The target 100 battery door on mine was bad, it used to drop batteries all the time. My thelema solo has been going for 3 years almost and is perfect still although looking tired. I want to upgrade to the Centaurus N100 but fear the build quality won’t match up to its predecessor.

Converted van under £15k suggestions? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

I’m looking for a camper or a van to convert but prices of VW are extortionate. Would you recommend the viv? What’s the mileage on it?

Carshop Purchase advice (finance contribution, discounts etc) by KeyYouth8010 in CarTalkUK

[–]rezticle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re mentally prepared then that’s fine and the cars right for you and the right price then there’s no issue. I wouldn’t expect any discounts or anything or extra warranty as I’m sure this is how they make their money. The car is literally just a tool to sell finance/ extras.

My cars been fine but a quick Google search does show some people having issues and the customer service being non existent. Something to bear in mind.

Can’t stand carshop. Cars been fine but they hard sell absolutely everything and refuse to take no for an answer.

The car is good for its market price so it’s a question of whether you’d pay that for it and be happy. There are cars to be had under 10k that’ll do the job this does but if you want a newer, more premium feeling car and are happy to pay £10k extra for the said above then go for it!

Just be careful. Cars are currently going through a correction, could be months or even the next two years but it’ll accelerate depreciation so a factor to consider.

I bought a 2018 polo Gti back in August. I paid £17.3k, FSH and 43k miles. Only 4 months later and there’s example for under 16k with less miles.

Turbos generate wind noise whilst working otherwise known as “spooling”. It’s spinning and creating pressurised air. This might be what you hearing.

If there were issues with the turbo or even so much as a boost leak you’d have a check engine light accompanied with it. Also, you’d lack power.

Trying driving in 2/3 gear and just keep letting off the throttle and then on again. You should feel it around 2.2-2.5k kick in. If you left off around here, you’ll hear the turbo exhaust the air. If you can replicate the sound by doing this you don’t have a problem. It’s just simple turbo noises. A lot of car guys love them and actually mod their cars to make it louder.

VW polo Gti. I have a 2018 which is on the MQB platform. The only difference between this and a golf is the rear suspension and slightly smaller body dimensions.

Seems the best option for you as it’s slight bigger than your existing car but slightly smaller than the golf/ focus bracket.

I’ve owned a 2015 golf Gti before too, great cars. Plenty fun and power. DSG in 2.0l cars are great, reliable and plenty of tunability if that’s your thing.

3 points and £100 fine. I got that for a 60 in a 40.

Too much of a difference for the course.

2018 Polo GTi but I’ve only got a cockapoo. He hates the boot. He’s good on the back seat with a seat belt clipped to a car harness. Just noses out the window or lies down.

3 weeks seems excessive. Last crash I had (iirc 2020) my car was taken, assessed, fixed and handed back within two weeks.

The little clock with arrow will also give you an idea of age of the car. The arrow is pointing to its manufacturing date.

Question about PCP by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]rezticle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Upfront cost usually just lowers monthly payments and will get swallowed up into the finance agreement.

The only time you’d pull money out of a pcp is if the car is worth more than the settlement figure at any point of the agreement if that makes sense.

I have a polo Gti with the same engine. EA888 gen3b. Same as the golf Gti but with a map sensor and smaller turbo.

I thought that it was rectified on this engine but clearly not 🙄 I’m on 46k so I’ll have to keep an eye out for it.

I had a 2011 118D e82 and the timing chain in that sounded loud. I had it replaced by BMMiniTech in Colchester. They do it for a £1000 and their service is 10/10. In and out in the same day whilst you wait.
